She looked at the heap of papers before her and then back at Solomon. This supposedly was her contract as well as her company's contract with Hendersons. Twinkle's company won't be shut down rather it will flourish with this exclusive contract with Henderson.
"If I had known that you won't be closing my company in order to hire me I wouldn't have said no earlier," she tells him honestly.
"Believe me I didn't think either that it was possible. But when you walked out I realized just how much this all meant to you," he smiles and then looks at his expensive watch.
"I know it's a huge bulk to go through but try to sign and submit it in my office by 9 am tomorrow. For the next seven days I need you 24/7. The Gala needs to be spectacular and I yet have to decide on so many important factors, including the new actors we should start the introduction with," he said with some strain in his voice.
Despite the fact that he owned the topmost talent hunt company in the country, he had moments when work pressure got to him. He was hoping that hiring Twinkle can help ease his pressure at least for some time.
"Sure that's not a problem," she assures him.
"Well I guess I will see you tomorrow then," he gets up to leave.
"There is one thing I do want to mention," she hesitantly starts and Solomon raises his eyebrows at her as if saying 'what now'.
"I think you should take Stanley back. What went on between us, no longer matters. He is a very talented guy and Hendersons could really reap high benefits," she asserted.
"You are sure? Okay then," he agrees once she nods to confirm she truly meant what she had said.
"Goodbye Ms. Owens."
"Goodbye Mr. Henderson," she responds automatically.
Yes, they should have a formal relation Twinkle mused as she walked towards her parked car.
-----
"I need a raise!" was the first thing that popped out of Sally's mouth as soon as Twinkle stepped back in her office. She couldn't help but beam a smile in her direction.
"Yes, you sure do. I might be selling my home at this very moment if Solomon didn't appear when he did today. But for now I need you to call Rosa, our company's lawyer pronto! This contract needs to be read in detail and I want her to go through it too before I sign," she tells Sally and hands her the bulky contract of over 200 pages.
She then heads to her cabin and makes a call to her brother. He picks it after four rings.
"Hi congratulations!," he says as soon as he answers.
"What? I didn't even tell you."
"Yeah, but you called. You only call when there is good news," he replies.
This makes her smile; Barry really gets her like no one else. No wonder she always has a tough luck when it came to guys. None of them were perfect or maybe she wasn't perfect for them. She shakes her head to get rid of the depressing thoughts. No more of that. From now on she will focus only on her work.
"So when am I meeting your new boyfriend?" Barry teases her.
"No I don't plan on having any more boyfriends," she tells him firmly but knows that firmness is more for her own resolve. She needs to learn to be happy alone.
"You said this when you broke up with that singer Justin."
"No, that was different. I was his muse and then suddenly he dumped me saying that someone else is inspiring him. That witch at Henderson did that," she retorts making Barry laugh.
"Okay Winky. Whatever you say, just take care of yourself okay?" he almost sounds pleading.
"Yes, I will Brother Bear. Hope to see you and Millie soon" she tries to end the call thinking he must be busy.
"Winky...We broke up before I came here. Yesterday morning. It's a long story. Bye for now. I really have to go now," he abruptly ends the call.
They have been dating for past ten years and now it's all over. Twinkle really couldn't digest what she had heard and decides to call her best friend Millie.
Things were going so good between them. They had rock solid live in relation and had seen no one in their ten year relationship. For her they were as good as any married couple.
"Hello?" a confused Millie answered her phone.
"Hi Millie. It's Twinkle. Were you asleep? Should I call later?" she asks her friend.
"Hi Twinkle. No I was just...just taking care of something," she hears her sniff and understands that Millie has been crying and that tears her heart.
"Millie, I wish I can be there with you and I will be in another ten days. But please stop crying. I am guessing things ended badly between you and Barry," she pauses when she hears her friend hiccupping at the other side of the line. It's worse than what she imagined. She looks at her watch and decides to go to her friend.
"Millie, pack some clothes I will be there soon. I will tell Barry you are staying with me for few days. You don't have any pending assignments do you?" she asks her thinking about the last advertisement her friend had posed in.
She is a good model but extremely moody making it difficult for Twinkle to get her good opportunities from time to time.
"My last assignment was just so f***ed up! The moron wanted me to strip," Millie cried out.
"Millie it was for Victoria Lingerie. You told me you wanted it," Twinkle says exasperating. This was just how Millie was. She wanted something for one moment but then in the next she didn't.
She hears Millie blow her nose.
"It's okay. Stay with me for couple of days. Maybe you both needed this break. I will help you out here. So hurry and pack and I will be there in an hour's time. Bye," she hangs up when she hears Millie affirmation.
It was almost 4 o'clock and she should hurry if she didn't want to be caught in evening traffic.
"Sally I am going to Cal. I had to hear some young band in the evening. I don't think I would get back in time. Will you please go, here this the restaurants card. Just record whatever you can of their performance and tell them that I will interview them tomorrow," she tells Sally in a rush.
"Okay. I will. But the contract, have you read it?" Sally asks her.
"No, but I am sure it will be okay. We had discussed on main points. I would have signed. Here give me the stack I will sign it at home. We can show it to Rosa later too," Twinkle grabs the stack and waves at confused Sally heading out to rescue her friend from all too familiar feeling.
