Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) Chicago
Terrence entered the visiting room, not knowing who would be there to greet him. For the past six months, no one from his family had been up here to see him. He figured they were mad at him, ashamed, maybe even hated him for what he did. No matter how many times he reached out to cast mates, Lee, Danny, his wife Mira, his daughters & even Taraji. No one had ever gotten back at him. No one except his son Hunter. Hunter had been writing him since day one. He didn't have anyway to see him but he always wanted his father to know that he was still here for him & that he still cared. That's who Terrence's hazel eyes fell upon when he looked around the room. He couldn't contain the smile on his face, seeing a familiar one.
He wrapped his two arms around his boy & held him tight. As cliché as it may sound, he didn't want to let him go. He didn't want this moment, the two of them embracing to end. As they both took their cold seats, Terrence never took his eyes off his son. Hunter crossed his hands on his lap, after removing his jacket, revealing his plaid shirt.
"It's good to see you dad" he said with a smile. Terrence's smile.
"It's great to see you son...So how is everyone, how are your sisters?" Terrence asked. Hunter looked down at his hands, then his eyes locked with his fathers. Those eyes were tired, pain filled them to the pupils. Months of crying, months of sadness, sleepless nights, were all very apparent in his appearance.
"They're still not talking to you or about you...Mira took all of your pictures down. I don't even think Qirin remembers what you look like, dad."
"Yeah, that'll change, that'll change...Maybe they'll come around. I've been reaching out to everybody, but you're the only one that responds & for that, I'm grateful. It keeps me going in here, Hunter."
"You're welcome dad. Unlike everybody else, I still care. You're my father, I don't even believe you did it."
"You know, it's great to hear you say that son, it's real great...Hunter, I've been thinking a lot. Hell with all this free time, that's all I do...I need your help son, but you have to promise, you'll help me."
"Sure dad, whatever it is. I'll help." That was just the response Terrence was hoping for. Hunter was his mini me & since he was a kid, he always mimicked his father & wanted to be like him. He looked up to him a great deal, always wanting to please him. The corners of Terrence's mouth curled up into a grin, then a smile.
"I need you to get revenge for us, Hunter."
"Revenge for what dad?" he asked as he messed with a button on his shirt.
"Tyrese & Taraji are the reason I'm in here. They're the reason our family is broken up. The reason for all of this, this madness that has fallen upon the Howards. They're the cause of this. You have to get them back for what they've done to us. What they've done to my legacy...Whenever I get out of here, no one is going to want to work with me ever again. This lie the both of them concocted has damaged me. Look where I am because of it."
