Always Here For You

Robert's POV

"I didn't mean to" He said.

"Oh please. You didn't mean to spend no time with her? You didn't mean to break up with her? You didn't mean to ignore her?"

"No. I mean. I just."

"Save it!" I got up and stormed back over to my friends.

Chloe's POV

Ryan stomped back over to us.

"Hey, what happened?" I asked curiously.

"Chloe, Can I talk to you for a minute?" He replied.

"Sure."

Me and Robert walked over to a tree and sat down, leaning on the stump.

"So what did you want to talk about?" I asked.

"Joe." He said.

"Oh."

"What?"

"Nothing. But. What about Joe?"

"He just wants to give up."

"Give up? What do you mean give up?"

"He just wants to stop trying. He says he'll only hold us back because of his leg."

"Then why did you leave him alone?!"

"Because he made me mad so my instinct was to walk away."

"What did he do to make you mad?"

"Well I kinda brought it up but-"

"What happened?!"

"I told him that he just gives up. Just like he gave up with you."

"Oh."

"And then he said he didn't mean to. Which is a complete lie. You cant not mean to break someones heart y'know."

I nodded my head.

"Do you need a hug?"

Robert always knew when I was about to cry. That's why we're best friends.

I nodded my head and he wrapped his arms around me. His head was on my shoulder and my face was nuzzled in his chest as a cold tear rolled down my cheek.

We both pulled away and he used his thumb to dry my cheek. "You okay now?"

I nodded my head and he showed a fleeting smile.

"Oh no." He said.

"What?" I asked, my eyes widening.

"Joe!"

"What??"

Robert got up and started running and that's when I saw it. A zombie was walking right in Joe's direction and he was just sitting there.

I got up and ran after Robert. I picked up a rock and chucked it at the zombie. I hit it in the neck and it fell down, but it wasn't dead yet. I got another rock and aimed right for the brain. Meanwhile, Robert ran over to Joe, picked him up and ran back to the tree. I ran over there too.

"Joe, what were you thinking?!" I screeched. "Were you trying to be killed?!"

"No, but if I tried to run I would've just fell again."

"You could've called for help!"

"Well I didn't think you guys would actually come."

"Joe, no matter what happens, we're here for you, all of us are."

"Well if all of you are here for me then why didn't the rest of them come to help me?"

"Because they didn't  see it happen!"

"So?"

"So if they would've seen, I know for a fact they would've tried to come to your rescue."

"Whatever." He said turning around.

"Bu-"

"Chloe." Robert whispered, putting a hand on my shoulder.

I put my head down. Robert lowered his grip down to my wrist and walked me back to the rest of them. Halfway there I stopped.

"What?" Robert said confused.

"We cant leave Joe alone again! What if something happens?"

"It's okay. You can go talk to your friends and I'll keep an eye on him."

"Okay.."

I walked over to Meredith and Robert walked over to a tree near Joe to watch out for him.

"Hey Chloe, what was that about?"

"Nothing."

"Oh. Okay."

"Yeah. So. Whats up?"

"We were gonna try and find some shelter and food."

"I think we should stay here."

"Why?"

"Just one more day."

"Why?"

"Because. We might not find any. And its getting late. We cant just wander around at night. In the dark."

"Okayy..."
