It was almost pitch black when Tony came back with some tents.
"How many did you find?" Fifi asked.
"Four." He replied.
"Is that gonna be enough?"
"Yeah. Up to three people per tent."
"Okay."
I walked back over to Robert.
"We found some tents." I said.
"Should we tell Joe?" He asked.
"Yes!" I yelled in his ear.
"Okay, okay." He replied.
We got up and walked towards Joe.
"Hey Joe..." I said.
"Hi." He answered.
"We found some tents." Robert said.
"That's cool."
"You gonna come?"
"Nah."
"Why not?" I interrupted.
"I just don't."
"I'll be right back." Robert said.
"Okay." I replied. "Joe?"
He didn't respond.
"Please come."
"Why should I?"
"Because if you sleep out here you'll be eaten alive."
"Okay."
"No. It's not okay. If you stay out here, I stay out here."
"No. Go back to the tents."
"Only if you do!"
"You'll die!"
"So will you!"
"Chloe. I care about you too much to let you die!"
"Since when?"
"Since the first day I saw you!"
"You didn't seem to care when you broke up with me!"
It was completely silent until Robert came back.
"Hey, we need to get back."
"Okay." I said. Then I looked over at Joe. "Please come."
"Fine."
Me and Robert helped him up and walked him back to the tents. We sat him down on a log.
"Joe! Oh my gosh where were you? Are you okay?" Fifi said running to sit next to him.
"Yeah I'm fine." He replied.
"Then how come they were carrying you?"
"My leg hurts, but it's fine."
"Okay."
"Yeah."
"I put together sleeping arrangements while you guys were gone."
"Let me see."
I looked at the dirty napkin she had written the sleeping arrangements on. It said:
Tent #1 - Tony, Michael, Eddie
Tent #2 - Amy, Grace, Leila
Tent #3 - Chloe, Meredith, Robert
Tent #4 - Fifi, Joe
"Okay. Cool." I said.
We all got in the tents and started to go to sleep. But I couldn't sleep. And it turns out neither could Mere.
"Guys?" I heard her say. "You still awake?"
"Yeah." Me and Robert responded simultaneously. He was awake too."
"You couldn't sleep?" Robert asked.
"No." Meredith said.
"Neither could I." I said.
We all sat up and looked at each other. Robert wrapped his arms around us and we stayed like that, wondering if we would ever sleep again.
It turns out we did fall asleep. I woke up and the tent was open. Meredith must've got up. I looked up at Robert, who was still sleeping. His arm was still behind my back, as mine was behind his.
"Robert." I said quietly.
His eyes opened. "Hi. I guess we all fell asleep huh?"
"Yeah."
"Where's the Meredith?"
"I guess she got up."
"We should probably get up too."
We both got up and stepped out of the tent. I smelled something burning. Tony and Michael were frying zombie meat over the fire.
"Morning guys!" I said.
"Hey Chloe. Hey Robert." Michael said.
"Where'd you get the rotting flesh?"
"Oh your friend Meredith was eaten alive so now we're cooking her and the other zombie." Tony replied.
"WHAT?!?!?" Me and Robert screamed.
"Don't worry, I'm just kidding. She's fine."
"Don't fucking scare me like that!!" I said slapping his arm.
"Sorry" He said laughing.
After a while everyone was sitting on logs, eating zombie meat ---which tastes disgusting---
I heard a loud groan a few minutes later.
"Guys, I think another one is coming!" Meredith said.
Seconds later, what seemed to be hundreds of zombies were approaching.
