Chapter 10- Late Night

Ater returning home and recieving Jason's text I lay down on my bed watching Netflix. I look at the time and it's 7:30 I wonder how long until Jason is going to text me. I go downstairs looking for my mom hoping she could distract me for a bit. I find her watching tv with my dad cuddling together asleep. I walk over to them and lay a blanket over them, I walk out to my studio cleaning up a few things.

Then at 8 I recieve a text from Jason.

Jason- Come on over i just closed up

I jump in my car and drive over to the bakery. I pull in and see Jasons car parked I park and walk to the front door, the lights are off i just awkwardly stand in the front unsure what to do. I text Jason saying im here. Then from the shadows of the bakery I see Jason walking to the door unlocking it. He says,"Welcome."

I walk in and he guides me to the back where im guessing is where the kitchen is. I ask,"So whats on the menu?"

He smirks and says,"Well we can make anything. Pick something from the menu and I'll teach you how to make it."

I look up at the menu and I see so many choices then I say,"How about a red velvet cupcake?"

He says,"Coming right up."

I stand at a table and he's going all around the kitchen gathering up ingredients then bringing them at the table.

We make the cupcakes from scratch he shows me all these tricks and what to do. At one point we had a little food fight while we were waiting for the cupcakes in the oven.

When the cupcakes are done Jason puts the cupcakes in the cooler so that when we put the frosting off it doesn't melt. I stand close to him watching him mix the ingredients for the cream cheese frosting. I say,"So since we are hanging out tell me about yourself."

He says with a smile,"What do you want to know?"

"Anything."

"Hmm lets see I lived in England most of my life moved here about 2 or 3 years ago. I live with my dad who usually isn't home because of work that's the reason why we moved. My parents just gotten a divorce and my mother decided to stay behind in England. Um and that's pretty much it. What about you?"

"Well I'm an only child, I don't see my dad often he's always working he's actually home right now. So most of the time it's just my mom and I lived here my whole life and that's it."

"Interesting."

I ask curiously,"Interesting?"

He just smiles I say,"You know what's interesting,"he nods his head,"If you lived here for three years then why haven't I seen you around."

"Well I'm mostly home, boring isn't it?"

I just laugh then I hear a 'ding' my head turns to the freezer excited to be able to taste the cupcakes.

He takes them out and set them on a table. I feel them and they are surprisingly a little warm. He gives me a bag of the frosting and we decorate the cupcakes together.

By the end of the night we've finished the cupcakes and only ate a few. Jason packed up the rest in a cute little pink box and tied up with a white ribbon then at the top is a tiny bow.

He insists I take the box of cupcakes for my mother. After we clean up we both exit the front door Jason locks up. I take the box of cupcakes and place it in the passenger seat. I turn around and Jason is standing by his car, I walk halfway between our cars and he does too.

We stand there in silence, I say,"I had a fun time tonight."

"I did too."

I suggest,"We should definitely hang out another time?"

"That would be great. GoodNight Tara."

He turns around beginning to walk to his car and I'm a little disappointed, but then he turns around and says,"Actually Tara," I nod my head for him to continue,"Are you free this Friday?"

"Yes I am."

"Can I take you out?"

"Yes."

"Great, I'll see you then. GoodNight."

"GoodNight."

I turn around and try to calmly walk to my car. I wave bye one last time and get into my car, I drive home that night with a big smile.
