THE COLD NIGHT SPRING AIR blew my hair, sending chills through my spine. It was the perfect time to do street magic. I pulled the sides of my bomber leather jacket and hugged myself. I stopped in front of an opened restaurant.
'Perfect' I thought.
I hastened to run to the sides of the open restaurant.
"Ladies and Gentlemen! May I have your attention!" I told the customers sitting in front of me. Several people turned to look at me while others spurned me. "My name is Rae Ashbourne and I am the next greatest magician! I will show you guys a magic trick no one has ever seen! May I have a volunteer?" This caught their attention, everybody peered at me.
Several people raised their hands.
"You there Sir! Come here please!" I pointed out to an old man wearing a maroon jacket.
He walked towards me.
"Let me guess," I looked at the man, eyeing his body language, eyes, reactions... "M. Is your name Marc?" He shook his head. "Matt?" He nodded. I grinned.
I took out my deck of cards from my black leather jacket, shuffled and spreaded it, the front facing Matt.
"Choose a card. Take it, memorize it and show the crowd but not me," he nodded. "Then take this deck of cards from my hand and slip it in and hand it back to me." I told him.
He did what I said and my deck of cards returned back into my hands. I did my magic and spread the deck again for the man to see.
"Do you see your card here sir?" I asked.
His eyes scanned the cards.
"No." He raised his eyebrow.
Curiosity filled the customers minds
A waiter walked pass. I stopped him. He was carrying a plate of plain pancakes. I took the plate out of his hands. I moved my hand across the pancakes and showed it to the man.
"Is this your card?"
The crowd gasped. The pancake was decorated to the design of the Queen of hearts card.
"Oh my. Yes!" He laughed.
"Here, for you." I gave him the pancake and gave $10 dollars to the waiter for the pancake. "And for my final trick!"
I took out my other special deck of cards, threw it to the air and turned to firecrackers before landing on the customers' tables. Each firecracker turned to paper with quotes about magic.
Firecrackers were my specialty.
"Thank you everyone! I'll see you in the future in Las Vegas for my show!"
They clapped their hands. I grinned and left.
I was just several blocks away from my humble abode when I bumped into a guy wearing a blue hoodie.
"I'm so sorry." I apologized.
He took no notice and continued walking.
"Rude." I mumbled and shrugged it off, making a turn to my apartment.

I unlocked the white wooden door and was welcomed by the cool air of my white and black themed apartment . I doff my jacket and hung it on the white wall on my left. I took off my boots, placed them on the side. In front of me was my living room. A electric fireplace was attached to the white wall and two two seater couches sat on the wooden floor, facing each other and a four seater sofa was across the fireplace. I turned to my left to my kitchen and went to the fridge. I took out a glass and poured chocolate milk into it.
