Chapter 5

***Thursday- Championship Game***

At halftime, Terrence's team was down by 7 pts. Jayden went to go to the concession stand to get a snack.

"Can I have a pack of M&M's and a water please?"

"Yes ma'am, that'll be $2."

"Thank you." Jayden did as she handed the lady the money. She turned around and she almost ran into someone.

"Oh, I'm sorry sir, I wasn't paying atten-." She looked up and saw that it was Chance.

"Surprised to see me?" He said with a grin.

"Um, yeah kinda. I've never seen you at any games."

"I really only came because I knew you were gonna be here. I don't think we got to finish our conversation the other day."

"Oh. Yeah we didn't. Sorry about that."

"Why did you lie to him? Are you trying to hide this from him?"

"It's complicated okay. Why you worried about it anyways?"

"We both know it's not that complicated. You like him, don't you?"

She was silent for a moment.

"I um.."

The buzzer went off meaning the game was about to start again.

"I gotta go." She said going back into the gymnasium.

He sighed and walked back to his seat too.

After the fourth quarter, they were down by four points with eight minutes left. Terrence was in the game again. He got the rebound after the other team missed their shot. He dribbled almost all the way down the court when he saw Jeremih and passed it to him. He made it. There's 3 minutes left. They only need another shot to go into overtime. Or.. A three to win the game. A full time out was called.

Chance saw Jayden eating her M&M's and walked over to her.

"Someone took my seat. Can I sit here?"

She looked up at him smiling, then looked where his seat was. It really was taken. He could've just sat somewhere else.

"I guess."

"Thanks Jay." He sat down next to her. She scoot over a little bit to have some space between them.

"Look, I know you probably like him. And I don't think you like me like that. But can you do something for me Jay?"

"Itz depends on what it is." She raised an eyebrow.

He smiled. "Can I just take you out one time? I'll leave you alone. Please?"

The time out was over.

"Please, just this one time." He said looking into her eyes. They were a beautiful light brown.

She thought for a moment. Terrence is gonna be really mad at me for this. And I know ima regret it.

"Okay just one time" She sighed.

"Thanks, Jayden." He said picking her hand up to hold.

Terrence had to come off the bench to go back into the game.

"Can I have a hug?" Chance asked Jayden.

She rolled her eyes and stood up to hug him.

Terrence looked up and saw them hugging. He was pissed. He went into game and glared at them for a moment. Then focused back onto the game.
