Chapter 6

**The next day**

Jayden woke up beside Terrence in the hospital bed. They could've left yesterday but they fell asleep.

"T, wake up. We gotta go."

"Mhm. Let's stay for a little bit."

"No, my mom is probably looking for me. Yours too. C'mon." Jayden said getting up and grabbing the keys.

He sighed. "Ight help me up."

"Okay, we gotta go check in with the doctor and tell him we're leaving."

"Okay."

She lifted him up and handed him his crutches. They walked to one of the desks and asked where doctor Moss is.

"Oh, he left not to long ago. He told me to tell you that you can leave whenever today." The nurse said smiling.

"Okay, thank you." Jayden said.

Jay helped Terrence into the passenger seat and drove to his house. She called her mom and told her to pick her up from there.

They got to his house and she helped him out. They both noticed his mom wasn't there.

"It's Ight. I got a key." Terrence said pulling the key out of his pocket.

They walked in and sat on the couch. Terrence turned the TV on while Jay sat next to him.

"Jay?" Terrence looked at her.

"Yes?"

"You can go to the party if you want. I want you to go have fun. I'll be okay. I promise."

"No, I said I wasn't going and I was gonna help you."

"I'm good Jay. My momma should be coming back soon."

She knew she probably wasn't really gonna help him that much or even be there when he needs it.

"T, I'd rather be here than at a damn party knowing you gon' need help."

"Thanks Jay but I'll be okay, I promise. Have I ever broke a promise to you?" He said looking into her eyes.

"No, but-"

"Baby girl I'm fine." He held her hand. He never said that before. But he knew she liked it because she started blushing.

"Okay, but you promised you wouldn't need help so if something happens-"

"Nun bad is gonna happen." He laughed. "I'll call you, okay?"

"Okay."

BEEP! BEEP!

Her mom was outside.

"I'll talk to you later T."

He nodded. They hugged goodbye and Jay left.

"Jay where were you last night? I know you didn't stay the night here. I will whoop yo-"

"Momma, he broke his ankle at the game and I stayed at the hospital with him because I needed to drive him home. His momma left him there."

"Oh.. Well why didn't you call me and let e know what was going on?"

"It died on the way to the hospital. I charged it in the car while I was on the phone with you."

"Mhm.. I was worried about you." Alicia glanced at her daughter.

"Sorry momma. I should've used someone else's phone to call you."
