*Gajeel's POV*

It had been a few weeks since levy have 'mysteriously' recovered very quickly. I avoided her at all costs. I was pretty sure it was obvious by now. It was hard, but it was safest for both of us.

She was the one. That's why I was so intrigued by her. For generations, the male side of my family have inherited a healing power and the ability to sense our soul mates. I always thought it was bullshit until I saw it happen with my own eyes. I must have healed her as she slept on me.

I couldn't get close to her, not in a world like this. People die everyday, to go through such pain and to know of the results would be selfish. Levy seemed to of been through enough. I didn't do the whole love shit and I had to make it clear, that the way I had acted with her was out of pity.

I went back to fucking around with Reina, even though Levy was always on my mind. Levy had taken quite a liking to my cat Lily, and Lily to her. Lily would cry at the door for her return but she would never arrive.

Shortly after Erza came in and explained her rank, Levy had been offered a chance to have her own apartment. She said she wished to stay with me, the way I had spoke to her that night left me filled with regret. We hadn't spoken since. I had told her that I saw her nothing more than an easy fuck and that's why I was acting so caring, for a chance to score.

Tears welled up in eyes, she turned away with her fists clenched by her sides. She packed up all her stuff and left. We saw each other around the compound but we never spoke or acknowledged each other. We were perfect strangers.

After another round with Reina, I got up and got a shower. Getting changed I left to go to the pub. No doubt Laxus and Gray would be there. Poor Jellal, Erza was one scary woman.

I got inside and there was some old woman singing. So people were going to be singing today huh? I smirked, I loved to sing...

Gray and Juvia greeted me and called me over to their table.

"Where's Laxus?" I asked Gray.

"Mirajane has him on a lead, " Gray said smiling. Juvia smacked him upside the head.

I sat down as the next person got up to make show of themselves. "You gonna give us a song tonight?" Juvia asked me knowingly. I grinned about to get up when several soldiers came scrambling in, covered in blood.

"T-there's too many, we can't hold them off." One rasped out.

"Everyone evacuate the building!" I roared out.

People charged at the door in a frenzy of terror, through the sea of people, I looked for a little woman with blue hair. If she was hurt...

I grit my teeth in anger, I heard a fierce voice somewhere in all the chaos. Fierce but weak.

"D-don't touch h-her." Levy gasped out in pain.

I barged through the remainder of people and slammed by body into the mutated man that had been squeezing Erza's neck.

Lucy held her neck gasping for breath as Levy dragged herself over to her in a delirious state. I didn't have a weapon on me. Fuck.

Just as the word "fuck" came out of my mouth, a brawny arm had wrapped itself around my neck, choking me. My crimson red eyes bulged in a struggle for air, I was pathetic.

Levy was too weak to get Lucy out which meant this was all on me. Gray had probably gone to inform the old man, more blood for me.

I swung my head back fiercely, hitting the mutated, grotesque man in the chest. Lifting myself up with all my strength, slammed my heel of my boot into his gut, quickly turning to meet his eyes as he got up.

"You picked the wrong guy!" I growled as I spat blood onto the ground.

Levy watched her eyes wide, hands trembling.

My knuckles were white, I had them clenched so hard. I approached him calmly, I wasn't afraid of pain.

I slammed my foot into his gut but he didn't budge. He smirked grabbing my foot and twisting it round. A sickening crack filled the silent room followed by a bang as I was swung into the far wall. My back hit the wall forcefully and I slumped against it.

I got up my crimson red eyes glinting as it was my turn to smirk. I started with a decoy kick as he watched my foot, I pulled my fist back with so much force, my muscles bulging, adrenaline rushing ready to feel the satisfying impact. Without hesitation I slammed my clenched fist into his face, hard. He fell to the ground, blood spurred out of his face.

I waited for him to get up, turning and winking at Levy as she watched, her mouth wide open. It quickly closed as she blushed.

"So you want to play pretty boy?" It cried out in rage as his blood flowed. He charged at me, throwing kicks and punches. I dodged them shoving my fist into his stomach, I was getting bored. I grasped at his intestines, tugging them out as he stood in shock his face twisting in pain.

I pulled him close as I dropped his guts to the floor and whispered in his ear, a sickening smile on my face.

"This is the part were you die." I whispered, laughing and dropping him to the floor. His eyes rolled to the back of his head as he brought his hand to his stomach.

I turned to Levy who was staring at me with fear in her eyes. I walked closer but she pushed herself back, clutching Lucy and ushering her to get out of the pub. Lucy jumped up shaking and scrambled out, knocking over chairs in the process.

"Levy?" I murmured softly as I felt to my knees in pain clutching my side, that damn wall.

She was silent for a moment before standing up and hesitantly walked towards me.

"A-are you hurt?" She questioned staring at me in astonishment.

"That bastard nearly put me through a wall, you know." I remarked.

She rolled her eyes before smiling. She put her head under my arm and carried some of my weight, helping me to leave the pub.

"We should take you the hospital." Levy started in that direction.

"Don't be silly just get me home, I'll bandage myself up." I told her evasively.

"If you're sure..." She muttered before stopping to look at me.

"Thank you, Gajeel. I don't know what would of happened if you didn't make such an effort to find us." She said gratitude in her voice.

"It's what a commander does." I insisted ignoring her thank you.

With that, she turned to face forward and silently helped me get home.
