ROCHELLE

I gulped as I stared at the school entrance before turning to see Cole leaning against his bike from across the parking lot.

Operation 'Capture Derrick' is underway.

The plan was pretending I was going to school alone because Cole and I had a 'fight'. Derrick would think I'm vulnerable and confront me. What he didn't know was that Cole would be hiding in plain sight and capture him, then drag him to the house. Sounds easy, right?

Wrong. So wrong.

We went to school and tried to act natural for a couple who just had a fight. Key word was tried.

Cole was tense the whole time, eyeing his surroundings while I was shaking like a chihuahua with too much caffeine in its system.

So as you can see, we are great actors.

I slowly made my way to my locker, glimpsing at Cole longingly. Looking at his clenched jaw, I can see he's doing everything he can to stay rooted to his spot. I sighed before making my way to my locker.

I looked around for our friends but couldn't spot them.

I felt myself start to chicken out. I knew this was the right thing to do, but that didn't mean I'm not terrified. I wished for Cole's touch to calm me, but that would blow our cover.

I took a deep breath.

I could handle this. I could do this. I believe-

I was pulled away from my locker and my eyes snapped open. Derrick was holding my arm, smirking.

I couldn't handle this.

"Hey babe. I missed you."

"Hey....Derrick. What's new?" I stutter.

He looked at me confused. I don't blame him, I usually stink at these situations. I opened my mind link so Cole can listen in.

I tried to pull in my acting skills and tried to look annoyed- which really wasn't hard.

"Go away Derrick. I'm not in the mood." I snapped as I slammed my locker shut. The bell began to ring and I marched my way to class. I felt Derrick grab my arm and pull me back.

I heard Cole growling in my head.

I'm fine, I reassure before turning and glaring daggers at him.

"Where's your boy toy?" Derrick pouted.

"He's not a toy and we are just having some space." I stated and I high-five myself for sounding convincing.

"Rochelle, I miss you. How about we go back to our place and talk?" Derrick says. "I know fights with you are hard." He says with mock sympathy.

"Excuse me? You can go to-" I got cut off from my outrage.

"I'd pick wisely my dear. Your friend Sabrina isn't doing so well with that mouth of yours running." Derricks tsks.

I tensed. What is he implying? He had Sabrina? What if he's lying? But I can't risk it.

"What did you do?" I growled, not even bothering to act.

"I just want to talk and Sabrina unwillingly decided that she'd help me." Derrick smirked.
