Chapter- 14

-----------------------

Something was wrong. Something is wrong.

My eyes watched in horror as Marshall fell into that woman's arms, looking more like a corpse than usual. Fiona slapped me upside the head while shouting, "Didn't you hear me?! Lord Monochromicorn and Cake are waiting outside with the rest of the princes already. Get off you're ass and let's go!"   She dragged me out of the broken ice cage and towards a melted hole in the wall that led us to freedom, but I still couldn't take my eyes off of Marshall.

When we were so close to the edge, after one blink of my eye, Marshall was no longer in that witch's arms, but stood right in front of me. With a swing of his arm, I was rammed up into the roof and forced to drop down. Due to the impact my vision was blurry and my head began to spin, but I could still make out what was happening.

The vampire I knew now held my best friend up by her throat. She couldn't fight back because her sword had fallen too far from her reach. Flame Prince came running back in to save her by punching Marshall across the room and catching Fiona in his arms. He passed his girlfriend to my trustworthy horse companion before returning his hateful gaze towards the fallen vampire.

I don't know what came over me, but before I knew it, I was sitting on top of the Nightosphere Prince, Fiona's sword gripped tightly in my hands, the edge of the blade placed directly on his throat. I gazed into those black eyes and hissed, "Who are you?" This was a side of myself that I barely knew, but in this situation, I forced myself to just go with it. Underneath me, I watched as small droplets fell down from the darkness, causing me to quietly gasp. "Don't you remember your own son mom?" he replied.

I was taken back by this. 'Mom? Is that how he sees me?'  I didn't have time to reply before he spoke again, this time, only loud enough for me to hear, "I'm sorry I ran away mom. But I can't go back. I don't like my fiancée. Simone is kind. Please don't hurt her."    I looked deeper into his eyes, then realized what was wrong. Reflecting in the black, I could see a woman that looked very much similar to Marshall. With long black hair, more violet colored eyes, and the same greenish-gray skin color, he must see me as his mother.

"If what I am thinking is true," I looked up at the Ice Queen, she looked ready to zap me with her ice. "She must look like this Simone lady."

The Ice Queen screeched, "That's not your mother Marshall! That's a beast trying to kill me!"

My gaze reverted back to my reflection in his eyes to now see not the woman from earlier, but a monster. Marshall's expression twisted up at the sight of me and I wasn't prepared for the blow that forced me backwards, but instead of landing on some hard ice wall like last time, I landed on soft fur. I turned to see that Cake had caught me as she shouted, "NEXT TICKET IS OUT OF HERE!" Before turning around and swinging her tail at both Marshall and the Ice Queen before jumping out of the melted hole.

As I continued to stare at Marshall while we took our exit, I watched as the Ice Queen lowered herself to Marshall's side as he tried to get up, but was smacked right back down. That was the last thing I saw of them. With that small conversation still playing in my mind.
