I'm all new at this let me know what you think!I rolled over and looked at my clock. "3:46 a.m." "This is such bullshit" I mumbled as I sat up. I hadn't slept through the night in months. My sleeping patterns were awful. It made school a lot harder but I kinda gave up on school a long time ago.
I'm 22 and live on my own in Detroit which is where I was born and raised. I have a local waitressing job at a local place called Max's. I don't talk to my parents much. They left Detroit by the time I was 18.
I had to go into work at 8 a.m. So not being able to sleep was pretty frustrating. I stood up out of my bed, not caring to change clothes yet and went into my bathroom. I looked in the mirror and I looked awful. I had bags under my eyes and my hair was a mess. I looked like I hadn't slept in days, probably because I damn near hadn't. I turned on the water and splashed some of it on my face before using some soap and cleaning my face some. I brushed out my hair before flipping off the light and heading to the living room. I grabbed the remote and turned my tv to MTV and went to the kitchen. I got out a bowl and a spoon and poured myself a bowl of cereal. I went and sat on my couch while eating and groaning at the fact that the sun hadn't even risen yet. After I finished my cereal I put my bowl in the sink and unsuccessfully tried to sleep a few more hours. My alarm started buzzing and I immediately turned it off as I hadn't even managed to get back to sleep. I sighed and put on my uniform and grabbed my keys off the counter before heading down to my car. I got in and put my phone on my aux cord. I put my Eminem playlist on shuffle. He made me feel like each day wouldn't be total shit. I pulled up to work a couple minutes late and turned my car off. I was dreading going in because I knew my boss would get onto me for being late. I put my phone in my pocket and got out of my car. Max's had just opened so no one was here yet anyway. It was usually slow here.
Work wasn't so bad. I got off at 4 p.m. My boss did yell at me for being late but the rest of the day wasn't terrible. I didn't have that many friends so I came straight to my apartment after work. I got home and changed out of my uniform. I had ate at work so I wasn't hungry. I went and turned my tv on and say down on my couch. I had a couple of texts from people I knew from work and school so I replied to those. I was home for almost an hour before I decided to run down to my local coffee shop. I changed out of my tank top and sweats and into some light colored skinny jeans, a black "Detroit vs Everybody" hoodie with white lettering, and a pair of black chucks. I left my hair in a messy bun. I drove about 5 minutes before I got there.
"Hey Alex! What's up?"
That was Cody. He worked at the coffee shop. Me and Cody talked each time I came in."Not much today, Cody. Pretty boring actually." I told him before he turned to make my coffee. He already knew what I wanted because I always got the same thing.
He turned around and handed me my coffee.
"Well I'm sorry about that. Maybe things will start to look up!"
I took my coffee as I noticed a man walk through the door with his hood on and his head down.
"Yeah. Thanks, Cody."
I went and sat down at a table by myself. Only me, the man, and a few other people were in the shop. For some reason my attention was focused on the guy who was sitting at a table by himself over in the corner. I went to take a drink of my coffee when I lost a grip on it and spilled it all over myself.
"SHIT!"
I immediately stood up and tried to wipe off my clothes. I saw Cody starting toward me but I motioned him to go back to his job. The man quickly came over and tried to help me. His voice was deep and he was quite a bit taller than me. Of course I was only 5'3.
"Shit, you okay? Let me get you some napkins." The man said as he grabbed some out of a napkin container on the table text to us. He started wiping off my shirt gently and as best he could as I did the same. He slowly stopped and looked up at me. I looked into the most beautiful pair of piercing blue eyes I had ever seen in my life and suddenly realized who I was looking at.
