Arden's POV"And then he took me ice skating in central park it was so roman- Arden? Arden are you even listening to me ?!" Jess' aggrivated voice broke me out of the trance I was currently in , by throwing a marshmallow from her hot chocolate at my face.
When your love life is as lacking as mine , you learn talents such as selective hearing (purely for these situations where Jess goes on and on about Michael).
Personally all I could think was thank god I don't have to hear anymore stories about how 'the statbucks guy spilt the drink on me on purpose - he was so flirting!' But even I draw the line at a 20 minute tangent.
"Jessabelle as much as I love you sincerely : I don't care. " I mumbled timidly.
Jess cocked her head sideways, staring me down. Her hand slowly, stirring the milk into her coffee, intently frowning as she did so. She looked as if someone just stated deadpool was a DC character , causing her to huff in frustration at their stupidity.
Well in this case my own.
"You're quite the hypocrite yourself Arden! I've heard crap tons of things about this Luke kid- you're practically already married. Which is a bit Ironic for someone who claimed 'Love is for the young, foolish, and those looking to get pregnant before they're 19' ".
I scoffed at her bluntness towards Lucas. I don't know what we have but it's not marraige. I wouldn't even class it as god damn friendship. He's more of what I'd consider an extra in a tv show that doesn't talk until asked or unless when he needs to.
"First Luke and I aren't married. We're not even that close, he just keeps happening to catch me at the wrong time. Bit like when I found you crying at the fictional death of Rue. Let's also not forget after ,where you started a campaign on tumblr to bring her back into the series" I smiled rigidly.
Jess looked taken a back at my change in tone, raising her hands up in defeat.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to touch a nerve, I just assumed after how great you said he was , something was going on between you two-"
"Well it's not. Lukes just an awkward, 6ft , punk giraffe. Whom, just so happens to have an amazing taste in music and still uses the smiley faces with noses in texts" I smirked sipping my tea.
Silence fell apon us breifly, the sounds of quiet talking from the customers around us forming a muffled ambiance. That is until Jess quietly began to snigger.
"What?" I tried (and failed) to conceal a small smile creeping onto my face.
"He's 19 and you're describing him like he's autum or tyler!" Jess snorted causing us to get tutted by a stranger. "Anyways - let's cut the crap, is he good looking? " she giggled leaning onto her hand.
Unfortunately me being the smooth girl I am, I had taken a sip of tea beforehand. Leaving me coughing horrendously. I don't know what's more embarrassing, the fact that I just embarrassed myself in front of the whole café, or the fact I have an answer.
Clearing my throat I turned to face Jess " Yes he's admitably very attractive , and no we're not going to date, I picture him more as a close friend. Plus he's an idiot" I smiled timidly in reassurance.
Jess wiggled her eyebrows up and down teasingly. "You know all friendships always develop into something more. Michael and I lasted a month before we started going out."
"Ah but May I remind you we're two very different people, at least you can talk to michael without stuttering like a 6 year old. Autum can probably produce more coherent sentences than me around guys, and she's 3. "
I muttered twirling a piece of my silver hair around my finger.
"Just do yourself a favour Ard. He seems like a lovely person from what you've said, but just promise me you won't get hurt?" taking my hand into hers she started to rub circles into my palm soothingly.
"I can't get hurt remember, just friends!" I sighed moving my hand away from her own.
Jess pondered her thoughts for a few moments before glancing upwards once again. "Just out of curiosity... If by any chance in the future you were to gain feelings for each other- would you want to be with him?"
"I haven't ruled it out".
