I have never been so happy to be in school in my whole life. Once I said those words it could never go back, it could never be unheard, unspoken, and unknown. I hurried to the doors in silence, trying my best to make some distance from Axel. But Alas, he went ahead of me and opened the door for both of us making all eyes to turn towards us.
Especially Kade's furious ones.
It happened all too fast. Kade stormed towards Axel and I. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me behind him. Axel's eyes widened at the harsh way Kaden pulled me (maybe not because of that but you get my point). But what Axel and I didn't expect was when Kade's fist connected with Axel's jaw.
And only then did time slow down.
Axel's eyes were locked with mine when Kade's fist hit him. He fell backwards at the large force from one punch it made me believe for a second that Kaden was Saitama or One punch man.
"Stay the fuck away from her!" Kaden practically screamed at Axel.
Axel smirked, not a trace of rage visible in him. He opened his mouth for a witty retort but before he could Kaden already spun around and held my face in his hands.
His eyes were filled with worry. "Are you okay?" The closeness of his face allowed me to take a whiff of his scent.
He smelled vaguely like lemon grass.
"Did he hurt you?" He asked, pure worry still lacing his words. I just shook my head idly.
He sighed in relief making his minty breath fan my face slightly. He rested his forehead on mine with an indescribable look in his eyes.
But I was still confused as fuck. "What was that all about?" I asked.
My question must've struck a nerve because he pulled away ever so reluctantly. He quickly averted his gaze to the floor.
He muttered something barely audible but I still heard it.
"Because you're just like her"

Two weeks had passed since Kaden decided to punch Axel. Over the small span of time Kaden, Cayenne and I grew close that we were almost inseparable.
At first Kaden was surprised to see Cayenne and I together but his shock was wiped out by a welcoming smile.
I strategically avoided Axel day by day but when hiding from him was inevitable I would find him staring at me and I would just look away. It was always like that and let me tell you, it's totally awkward. Meanwhile, I still had completely no idea why Kaden wanted me away from Axel so badly. Whenever I would ask him he would purposely change the subject or he would simply ignore it. Cayenne barely had an idea too, unfortunately. Even if she studied here for the longest time she was close to being clueless not until today, when she proved that she did know something. Even if it's the slightest of information.
I stuffed the last of my books into my locker when Cayenne came racing down the halls to a beeline towards me.
"Oh my gosh!" She squealed.
"What? Why?"
"I think I remember what happened between Kaden and Axel!" She shrieked.
A pang of shock hit me. I shushed her before she could make things even more obvious. She mouthed a small 'sorry'. I simply rolled my eyes and gave her a knowing glance telling her to fill me in with the details.
She muttered a curt 'oh yeah' then proceeded to tell me. "So, I remember this rumor around school that Axel and Kade were fighting over a girl. And you know me and rumors, I don't care about then which is why I never bothered asking who the girl was and why they're fighting over her."
It was true. Cayenne discarded rumors as soon as she heard them ever since the whole Bisexual issue. She moved past it but she made sure to never listen to any rumor and if she ever did she never believed them. Everybody deserves the truth and only the truth not some bull Crap coming from a brainless bimbo, she said.
It's such a shame she didn't have any more information but it's better than nothing.
"A girl..." I mused aloud. That girl must be the same girl Kade said I was like. The pieces were falling into place but the picture isn't even near to completion. Of course it had to be about a girl, but what I really wanted to know was Why? Why that girl in particular? Who is she exactly? But most of all What happened?
Shrugging off the issue Cayenne and I walked to the last period, our arts class, which I have grown to enjoy. In the past two weeks all we did was continue the very first project Ms. Darcy assigned us. I also learned that Ms. Darcy turns out as one of the nicest teacher in the pack which I'm truly greatful of.
Immersing myself fully in art I zoned out of reality. It was just me and my art. All that's left to do in that canvas was to paint it.
Color.
I felt myself grow at ease with each gentle stroke of the brush. I started with the bigger part of the picture, the face. I started to paint with the shades of black, grey, and white.
I know, what a great choice of color. (Note the sarcasm)
I thought my imagination has brought me to a new realm for I heard the faint sound of Coldplay.
Snapping back to reality I turned to Cayenne and saw that she has placed one of the earphones on my ear. She just gave me a small smile to which I returned with a bigger one.
I recognized the lyrics play through.
Smiling silently at myself I finished the dull part and picked up a new brush. I dipped it in what I believe was the tub with bright pink paint. I painted the iris with it then blended other colors in, my aim was to make a kaleidoscope of colors.
"I thought you were colorblind"
A deep voice spoke behind me. The notion startled me enough to put me out of my daze and back to the classroom. Luckily I didn't harm my painting.
I spun around furiously to face whoever nearly ruined my painting but only came face to face with someone.
And that someone is none other than Axel fucking Maverick.
