Taylor's POV
I spent the next couple of days in my cell trying to adjust to my delicate senses. It was difficult to concentrate when you could smell every single product of food that was being cooked. I could hear a pin drop or the labored breathing of training vampires outside. My senses were being overloaded and giving me massive head aches.
I was fed three times a day, given books to read, and a new set of clothes every other day. All of the books contained the history and diaries of vampires. I read many diaries of recently turned vampires. They were filled with fear and sorrow. Most people who are turned ended up killing someone they knew or loved and were forced into hiding until they accepted help from their creator.
They described the burning in their veins as they transitioned and the painful adjustments their bodies had made during the change. Their senses were magnified but their strength had not fully returned. As I read I learned that my strength would come back very soon and I'd finally be able to go back home.
I was stuck in the room and fed like a prisoner. Special thanks to my brother Tavon. I could hear tons of commotion from outside of the cell. My new senses were becoming a little bit easier to control and manage. Apparently someone important was going to be arriving soon. Maybe this would give me a chance to escape and go back home.
To pass the time I started working out again. Since I could hear better than ever, I could easily tell when someone was coming to check on me. I'd immediately stop my push ups or sit ups and pretend to read.
One day I heard a couple of people pass my door talking about the arrival of the important guest. This is the day, Taylor. Catherine said excitedly.
Catherine had slowly become stronger as time drew on. There was something off about her, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was that she was back. Today she was extra jumpy for some reason, but I guess that being kept in a cell for god knows how long would make breaking free an exciting day.
I knew it was almost time for lunch, so I sat on my bed with the heaviest book in hand. Soft steps made their way to my cell and I readied the book over my head. As soon as the door opened I launched the book towards Tavon and sprinted for the exit. To my surprise, a girl my age dropped the plate of food in her hands, caught the book, and slammed the door in my face before I could make my great escape. Fire danced in her emerald eyes as she smirked at me.
How dare she ruin my plan. I took a swing at her but she was faster. I growled and remembered I had an advantage in both speed and strength now. I smirked and lunged towards her again. I grabbed her arm and felt a shock wave travel through my body. We both fell to the ground in complete shock. My body hovered above hers in a push-up position. I could barely hold myself up. Shit, she's a damn witch. I looked into her eyes with anger but felt a tug at my heart.
The fact that a girl came to deliver my food wasn't what surprised me the most. It was the fact that I felt drawn to her. What happened next was even more surprising. Mine. Catherine growled.

Bet you didn't expect that. Such a relief to get through writers block though (:
