A New Type of Alpha

Chapter 5

Taylor's POV

My eyes widened in surprise as I stared at the girl looking for an answer.

"I see you've acquainted yourself with the lovely and beautiful Alexandra." I quickly jumped off her and looked at my brother on the other side of the door. "Let me out of here Tavon or I swear to god I'll kill her."

Catherine growled at me. Don't you ever say that again Taylor. I had no time to deal with Catherine so I blocked her out. I quickly grabbed the girl and held her in a headlock position. Tavon chuckled outside the door.

"You can try to kill her, but it won't work Taylor. She's someone you don't want to mess with." She looked at me through the corner of her eyes trying to figure out what was going on.

Our bodies were pressed together and half of me wanted to embrace her. I shook my head and pushed those thoughts aside. This was a mistake. I can only have one mate and that's Jason.

I felt my strength recede and my grip loosened around her. Before I knew it I was on the ground with her knee at my throat. Tavon clapped and kept chuckling. "Taylor meet Alexandra Romanov, the next heir to the undead throne. I forgot to mention that she has a special talent of siphoning other supernatural creatures' power, but I guess you know now."

I glared at her. There's no way she's my mate. I'd die before acknowledging that a vampire was my so-called mate. As if hearing my thoughts she easily got out of my hold and walked to my brother lazily.

He slung an arm around her with a crooked smirk. You can try to escape but just know that I had a magical friend of mine put a spell on this room.  Stop wasting your time trying to leave and give up. Let's become the siblings your father never let us become. I threw my book at the door in response to Tavon's statement. "Go screw yourself Tavon."

Alexandra's POV

"My sister is a little unruly but it grows on you." Tavon explained while walking me to his sister's room. I nodded and looked down at the food in my hand. What a lucky girl to be taken in by her brother after becoming the first known hybrid. Plus the food he's been serving her smells delicious. Another vampire walked past us and said he needed to speak to Tavon privately. "Go ahead Alex, I'll catch up." I shrugged and made my way to Taylors' room. I could hear that her breathing was very controlled.

I quickly unlocked the door and was almost greeted with a book to the face. I quickly dropped the food and caught the book while closing the door with my foot. The girl almost smashed herself against it which was a very comical sight. She caught sight of my smirk and growled. Feisty, I like it. She threw a punch at me and I easily avoided it. The newborn is weak. I decided she wasn't a threat until she lunged at me again.

When her hand grabbed my forearm, it felt like I was being electrocuted. I accidentally started siphoning her energy as we fell to the ground with a thud. I groaned and stared up into her eyes. Fuck. As soon as our eyes met I felt the connection.

Never in my life have I ever wanted a mate. If I am to rule my people, I can't afford any distractions. Tavon made a snide comment causing his sister to jump off me. Before I knew it she had me in a pathetic excuse of a chokehold.

I couldn't help but want to seep into her warm embrace. Maybe she feels the same way about me. A small part of me wondered. Since we were touching, I quickly listened to her thoughts. ' I'd die before acknowledging that a vampire was my so-called mate.' I quickly maneuvered my way out of her grasp and made sure she stayed down. After siphoning the most part of her energy I made my way towards Tavon. I can't believe I had thought about her being my mate. What a dumb thing to do.

As the two siblings bantered I took every detail of her in. Her chestnut brown eyes, her wavy brown hair, and especially that way she carried herself. You could tell she was built and that she had a massive amount of confidence in herself. Damn, a girl who wears confidence well is a keeper. No Alex, you can't be thinking like that. You are here to train her and that's it.

Tavon picked up the broken plate and cleaned up the food. "Well, I'll let you two spend some quality time together since you hit it off so well. He gave me an apologetic look and closed the door behind him. Oh boy. This is going to be a long day.
