"you're going down, short stuff," chanyeol playfully threatened, ruffling kyungsoo's hair with one hand.

kyungsoo pouted, pushing his hand off him, "no way. i'm a pro at bowling." he looked at minji, her brown hair draped over one shoulder as she smiled tenderly at him.

kyungmi feigned nausea when minji hugged him, causing chanyeol to playfully push her. "be nice," he scolded, causing kyungmi to stick her tongue out at him.

"alright, let's get this party started!" kyungmi yelled to everyone, cracking her neck menacingly as she approached the rack of bowling balls, carefully picking out a 9 pound magenta one and pacing at the lane.

the metal bars raised and she took a deep breath, eyes narrowing in determination as she pulled back and let loose, the ball rolling out of her grip and straight into the gutter.

kyungsoo laughed, teasingly sticking his tongue out at her. "fight me, bitch." she said,
squaring up kyungsoo and then giggling, both of them unable to contain their laughter.

"let's go, right now. 1 v 1 me in the parking lot." kyungsoo chuckled, rolling his sleeves up.

chanyeol cleared his throat loudly, gesturing for kyungsoo to finally play his turn. kyungsoo, with fluid grace, scored a strike on his first play.

minji clapped, giving kyungsoo another hug. he seemed stiff, if only for a moment, before he continued on with the game, his hand dropping from around her small waist.

all of them were riled up and excited for another round, minji grasping onto kyungsoo's arm for dear life. chanyeol, noticing the two ladies getting anxious along with kyungsoo feeling uncomfortable, suggested that minji and kyungmi go to get ice cream from the ice cream parlour across the street.

"i like cotton candy!" he called to the two retreating figures, kyungmi slightly glaring at him for making her go with minji.

"vanilla, please." kyungsoo said, both minji and kyungmi turning around and smiling at him before looking at each other and narrowing their eyes.

chanyeol walked round and put his arm over the youngers shoulders. "so, my brother," he begins, walking with him, "how's it been?"

kyungsoo, thoroughly confused, warily answers. "it's been alright," he pauses, trying to shrug chanyeol's arm off him, "how about you?"

inwardly smirking, chanyeol turns to face kyungsoo. "great. lovely. kyungmi's the best thing that's ever happened to me," he teases slightly, watching kyungsoo's face contort into one of annoyance. "how is it without her in the house as much?"

kyungsoo's shoulders raise into a shrug, his hand scratching the back of his head. "it's been kind of quiet," he whispers, letting himself slouch forwards tiredly. "there's nobody around to keep things lively."

"ah," chanyeol says, nodding. "i understand."

he opened his mouth to say something, but quickly shut it as he noticed the pair of girls walking towards them, ice cream cones in each hand. "thanks guys," kyungsoo tells them, noting that kyungmi has a vanilla scoop as well as minji. "which one's mine?" he gestures to the two, minji putting her hand out.

"this one. little miss kyungmi decided to get vanilla too. no biggie." kyungmi scowled at this, licking her vanilla ice cream.

"so what. i like vanilla, okay?"

"kyungmi, wasn't your favourite flavour choc-"

"guys-"

"i think you need to stay in your lane, kyungsoo and i-"

"no, minji, it's fine, we live-"

"guys-"

"nah, what was she gonna say? don't tell me you're siding with her over me, kyungsoo-"

"ENOUGH!"

chanyeol slammed his hands on the table, looking at the three with a wild expression. "quit it!" his chest rose and dropped rapidly, eyes wide.

everyone shared guilty expressions, chanyeol's ice cream dripping down his hand in exotic patterns of blue and pink. "sorry," kyungmi was the first to apologize, her eyes trailing across the floor.

"yeah man, me too." minji.

"i'm so-"

"no, kyungsoo don't worry. it wasn't your fault." kyungsoo is taken aback by chanyeol's soft words. "you weren't doing anything."

"are you sure?" kyungsoo's eyes widened slightly as he looked at chanyeol with a concerned expression, his hand instinctively reaching for his shoulder.

chanyeol smiled. "yeah."

"round two?"

"round two."

and so, another hour passed in blissful fun, kyungsoo and minji ending victorious. chanyeol was surprisingly quiet most of the time, observing his girlfriend and how she reacted to different things.

"hell yes!" minji exclaimed, seeing the high scores on the board. "we won!" she reached forwards and pulled kyungsoo into a warm hug which he reciprocated, her arms snaking around his waist.

kyungsoo's eyes locked with kyungmi's for a moment, a fiery emotion passing between them before kyungsoo gently pushed minji away from him, breaking their tight embrace.

chanyeol spoke up, stretching his long legs, "let's head home, yeah?"

"yeah." kyungmi replied, holding his hand as he pulled her up off her chair, briefly resting his hand on her back before softly nudging her forwards, towards the exit.

two pairs of equally exhausted boys and girls piled into chanyeol's car, in a peaceful silence after all.
