Alex's p.o.v

"You still have to go to school whether you like it or not," mom said as she crossed her arms. I wasn't in the mood to fight back so I angrily stood up. The door closed as she left and I got my uniform out. My stomach began showing a bit but not extremely.

Either way if I kept going to school then people would know. People were already starting rumors but shut up when I passed by. The only reason I didn't want to go to school was because Mr. Sykes would obviously be there. Johnnie was going too since mom was making him stay for a month before he could leave again.

It made no sense how my mom worked. She was torturing us both by keeping him here with me in sight and for making him go to school where he would see the person he assaulted. Something was clearly bound to go wrong.

"Alex!" My dad yelled. I groaned and made sure I had everything. Another day in hell. We were all downstairs and heading our own ways. Luckily Chris drove me and didn't ask about anything. I actually missed our old ways. Sure David and Maria were the worst but at school no one cared for me and at home I usually stayed in my room. It was perfect.

"I'm going out later so make sure you have another ride," he said as he parked. I simply nodded and walked out. Going inside felt like too much work so I started staring at the school.

It was big for a high-school. Most people here I had never seen. By now everyone knows me but it was funny how I still didn't know anyone in my classes really.

"Staring isn't going to help you go inside," I screamed and jumped. The guy just laughed at his accomplishment of scaring me.

"Holy shit, not cool," I softly chuckled as I tried to calm my breathing.

"It made a good first impression no?" He smirked. I rolled my eyes and shrugged.

"Sure, just makes me already not like you," I joked. He put a hand on his chest and shook his head.

"Ouch. I'm Max," he stuck his hand out. Gosh he was old with these hand shakes. I took it anyways.

"I'm Alex. Don't we have a class together?"

"Ah yes. Art and English," he confirmed.

"So I'm guessing we should start heading to class now," I scrunched up my nose as I still didn't want to go to class.

"Probably," he chuckled. We walked in and went upstairs.

"Man I seriously don't know anyone here after being here for awhile," I said before we got in.

"And everyone knows about you. Hey, wanna sit with me?" He asked. I nodded and smiled as I followed him. When we walked in, Mr. Sykes started eyeing me.

"You're such a loner," I giggled noticing he sat in the back corner.

"Obviously I would be. No seating chart so I got myself the best stop," he shrugged. I took this time to really look at him. About Johnnie's height, thin, blonde with decently short hair, most black clothes, and snake bites. Not a bad looking guy at all. "Do you always stare at things?" I looked away in embarrassment.

"Good first impression no?" I copied him.

"I just scared you but you're all about staring," I liked him. Maybe I should start getting friends.

"Ok class has started so get your work out," Mr. Sykes clapped his hands and stopped our conversation. He seemed to be focused on Max and I this whole time. I don't get it. He's the one to cut us off so why is he all of a sudden overprotective? Just like Johnnie.

"Attention students and staff, we're going into a lock down. This is not a drill, please keep students in class. This is not a drill," the principle over an intercom came on.
