Hey, guys! Hope you enjoy this chapter! Happy reading!

At Berk Castle, Hndan and Eunan troops were fighting against each other outside the palace walls, the latter having made a surprise ambush on the capital.

"I'll protect them at all costs... We won't yield, even against a surprise attack!" Kai said to himself as he fought with his troops. "While Prince Hiccup is away, protecting Princess Hannah and the castle is my duty! Even if that means giving up my life..."

"Kai, I'm here to help you!"

Out of nowhere, a blur sped by him as the crown prince annihilated the Eunans with ease.

"Prince Hiccup!" Kai said gratefully. "You're safe!"

Hiccup gave a smile to the tactician before returning his attention the enemies coming. "All right... Are you ready, Tooth?"

"Leave it to me!" Tooth said confidently, striking down her foes with one swift strike with her axe.

"Don't worry, Kai. We'll take care of this," Hiccup said, readying himself as he watched more troops approaching. "These Eunans don't stand a chance against us."

..~..

Before long, the battle was over, with all of the Eunan soldiers dead and the rest of the lucky soldiers left to retreat.

"Thank goodness... Prince Hiccup, I'm glad to see you're safe," Kai said again, sighing in relief.

Hiccup smiled sheepishly. "Yeah. Sorry for being away for so long."

"Hey...you. Those glasses look pretty stylish, y'know? How about I decorate them for you?"

Kai raised a bemused brow at the soldier standing beside Hiccup. "Excuse me?"

Hiccup chuckled. "Oh, right, I should introduce you two. This is Tooth. She was a member of the resistance against Euna. We became fast friends in Luan, and now she's lending me her strength. She also brought some extra soldiers to help protect Berk Castle."

"Nice! To! Meet! You!" Tooth said enthusiastically, shaking Kai's hand up and down with every word. "Hiccup's told me all about you and how you're super smart and strategic and all that good stuff!"

"Yes, it is... Nice to meet you too..." Kai chuckled awkwardly, feeling his arm start to go numb from the strength of Tooth's grip. He sighed in relief when she finally let go.

"Kai. We ran into Jack at Muse," Hiccup said, his tone becoming serious.

Kai balked. "Prince Jack?"

Hiccup nodded. "Yeah. He asked me to join him in trying to end the war."

"He told me the same thing at Fort Tadhg," Kai frowned. "He said he'd wait at the Infinite Chasm when the skies of Hnda and Euna have switched... But he couldn't tell us his reasons, and he proved to be quite stubborn when I tried to persist."

"Hm... So, it does seem he told you the same thing," Hiccup said thoughtfully. "...Jack isn't one to tell lies. He's been like that since childhood, genuine and honest... He has this mysterious appeal that draws people to him. Seeing my younger brother with the qualities of a ruler... Honestly, it makes me feel envious. ...What a ridiculous thing to say, right?"

"...Hiccup," Tooth said with concern. "Don't put yourself down-"

"Because of that, I did something unforgivable," Hiccup clenched his fists with frustration.

Tooth paused from placing her hand on his shoulder. "Something unforgivable?"

"Jack was kidnapped by Euna at a very young age..." Hiccup said, shaking his head as he remembered his mother, crying on his brother's bed, looking at the last picture he drew; the silent sobs of Hannah, who never left her room and rarely ate or slept, the feeling of how he had to grow up quickly in order to take the place of his father, who they couldn't even bury. "...Right in front of my own eyes. That time, if I had just been a bit stronger, I could've brought him back. The reason I couldn't save him... Maybe my absurd feelings were what stopped me. Even now, I sometimes feel that way."
