Hi. My name is Layla. I am now 26 years old and I decided to finally share the story of my ill-fated life with you.
It all started in 2004, when I was a freshman in high school, and Joe, the star-crossed love of my life, was a senior.
At the beginning of each year, our school forced each homeroom class to perform a song to our parents, grandparents and whoever else wanted to put themselves through that horror- singing, dancing, the whole lot. I didn't mind any of this, since I love singing and dancing equally, but that day I just wanted to get it over with. Since I was a freshman and in Homeroom A, my class was up first.
We got on the stage, finished our song and I went to change and slipped in the back door of the school hall, just in time to see the First senior class perform. It was their last year so most of them made jokes about it, just because they knew they'd get away with it.
I was standing in the back of the hall, talking to my friend Carly, when the second senior class made their way onto the stage. I glanced in the general direction of the stage, and I saw him. I couldn't keep my eyes off of him. By the end of their song, I told Carly: "I'm going to marry that man." She laughed at me kindly, but my heart felt warm.
Little did I know that this would be the beginning of a disastrous end.
