Tuesday had just finished her tale of Lake getting re-kidnapped when they reached a door.
"This is the last time I saw her." Tuesday sighed, pointing to the empty doorway.
"OI, where you goin'?" Someone said behind them. He had a rough, scratchy voice.
"Shit. RUN!" Susan grabbed the two closest people and broke into a sprint, her green dress flying around her legs. Everyone else followed and soon they stopped to catch their breath.
"Let's never run on a stomach full of nothing." Sapphire wheezed, clutching her sides.
"I agree with Saph," Harriet said after hurling up green acid behind a bush. Collin nodded and Tuesday panted, gripping her knees with such force that her knuckles turned white.
"Two questions. A) Where are we? And b) What do we do now?" She puffed.
"We find someone to help us," Harriet whispered, still out of breath
"No-one will help us, not dressed like this." Collin gestured to their clothing.
"He's right. We look starved and we can't trust anyone. Not right now." Tuesday was deep in thought.
"Yeah. We need a plan. Something that can bring those sons of bitches down for life." Harriet agreed. She peeked around the bush they were hiding behind. "All clear, no-one's there. I saw a sign, it said Heaton. Shall we head there?" She said.
"No, we need to find Lake, before they do anything bad to her, then we go to the nearest local village or town and get help." Susan strategised. Everyone looked at one another and nodded after pondering for a moment or two.
"What about food? I'm starving. No, in fact, I've gone past the point of starvation, my stomach has crumpled into a small ball that can no longer function." Tuesday mentioned.
"Eew! Way to put everyone off eating for the rest of their life!" Sapphire groaned.
"Hey! Look, a shop." Harriet pointed.
"O.K.... But who has money?" Collin asked.
"Just follow my lead. Come in one at a time or in twos," Susan answered. Everyone shuffled after her into the shop. "Hi, I was wondering where I am, my friends' car broke down a little way down there." She said politely to the shopkeeper.
"Ah, now, there's a sign back there that says Heaton." He replies, gesturing to the door.
"Oh, well, thank you. Umm....... Might as well get some food while I'm here then." She chuckled humorlessly, walking down the groceries aisle. She met up with the other halfway down, who had grabbed food and stuffed them down their tops to make them look fat and healthy. They passed some to Susan who did the same. Their chests looked a bit lumpy but it was fine.
"Hey!" They shopkeeper shouted. They all gasped and looked up. "Where's your friend? Surely she would come in, seeing as she has to be older than you to drive a car." They tip-toed to the door as Susan tried to lie.
"Umm.... Well. You see, she's.......... Trying to get service! To..... call the car motorway breakdown people to fix her car." It all came out too quick. The shopkeeper walked to the door separating the main shop and his area behind the till, but the girls and Collin ran outside while he was fumbling with the lock. He picked up his phone.
"999, what's your emergency?"
