Fire Flower

Chapter 1: Flower?

Hi my name is Brittney. I am about 5 ft tall with blue and black hair. My family and I just moved to a new town called Fire Creek, we moved from Dublin. It is a big change mom said we would get used to it but I miss my friends. On the way here my mom and I saw a trail and a waterfall. I hope to soon explore it all. I love nature and everything about it. My friends and I always went hiking in the mountains to look for wildlife.

My mom and I are unpacking when we heard a knock on the door. I opened it to find a Girl and her dad. The girl was in hiking boots and a camo shirt with camo pants. She also had a machete. Her dad had a shotgun and he was wearing the same thing. My mom came up behind me and finally said "Hi, How can we help you?"

Then the girl answered, "we just wanted to say welcome and meet the family."

The girl looks at me and says "You look like an explorer. Do you wanna go hunting with me one day? Or we can go exploring?".

I then look at mom and she nods as if she approves it, but the look in her eye says that she doesn't trust it. Then the girl and her dad say "bye" and walk away. I shut the door and look at my mom like I know what she is thinking.

Finally she says "Ok fine I don't trust them. We just met them and I have heard a few things about the things in the forest. They can do things to you like you could never think."

I look at my mom with an are you serious face. She just nods.I walk off to my room and start unpacking my laptop. As soon as that is unpacked I text my friend EJ and ask him to Skype. He says sure. I immediately call him on Skype and he answers. I tell him about the plane ride, what happened with the neighbors, etc. He asked me if there was a place to explore and I told him what my mom said about the forest. He looked at me with the same face I gave my mom. I just nodded. I looked at the clock and realize it is midnight so I say goodnight to EJ and hang up the call. After I hang up I get a text from a stranger saying "Don't touch the fire flowers....". I looked at it and thought they must have the wrong number but they send another message and this time it says "Don't ignore my warning Brittney!". Then I text EJ and send him a screenshot of the messages and he told me to tell my mom but I thought about how if she knew she would never let me go exploring. So I just ignore it and go to bed.
