chapter 4: him

I quickly run to my mom and show her the picture. Then she said "How did you get a picture of him on the plane?". I responded by saying "I asked EJ to send me a picture of him on the plane.". I guess she didn't see the background cause she didn't say anything except "He is really nice for doing this for us.". I looked at her with an are you serious face and said "Mom look in the background! See anything familiar?". She looked in the background and saw him and she didn't respond she just ran to her room. I stood there thinking she would come back. I realized I didn't text EJ back so I went to text him and got a message saying "Hey you there? Are you ok?". I answered right away with "No I'm not fine he is behind you.". He just sent a question mark as if he was coming here just to see me. I texted him and said "Jerold is behind you EJ.". He just send dots. I think I scared him.
I go and check on my mom and I see her crying while loading a gun. I take gun away from her and say "Mom what are you doing?". She sobs as she tries to say "I have 2 guns. I got them after he left incase we needed them. Incase he came after us. You and EJ can both have one I know you don't know how to shoot one but it is easy. You will figure it out.". I look at her and realize it is time to tell her about my secret. I smile at my mom and say "Mom... I know how to shoot a gun and I have one too. EJ taught me when we were hunting one day and I mastered it faster than he did. When I told him that I was moving he got me one so I could protect myself cause he wouldn't be here to protect me.". She looks at me like she is proud and says "That is awesome Brittney. Now we have 3 guns and we are all trained on how to use them.". We high fived and planned what to tell EJ when he gets there. My mom had 2 sets one for her and one for me. I had a set from EJ. We loaded the guns and put them on the beds with the gear next to them. We were ready to fight back.
