Chapter 2: The stranger

I woke up the next morning and saw that I had 15 messages. 5 were from EJ because I woke up later than usual and He got scared, 8 are from my group chat with my old friends they just starting talking, and 2 more from the stranger. First I replied to EJ and told him I was really tired so I slept in. Then I joined the group chat. Then I read the messages from the stranger. The messages said "I know
where you live Brittney." and "I'm coming for you.". I immediately screenshot it and text it to EJ. He texts me almost a second after and says "I'm coming to protect you. Give me your address.". I text back and tell him "no I can protect myself and fight it.". He replies and says "You don't know what you are up against. I want you safe and protected and I know your mom can't protect you.". I then realize that I don't hear any noises and it is 10 so my mom should be up. I go down stairs to look for her and she is downstairs in her room unpacking and also looking like a sleep deprived zombie. I start to walk back upstairs while texting EJ back and tell him "I am fine it is probably some practical joke someone is playing on me you know a lot of people hated me in school....". He just replies with a face "-_-". He sends a text right after saying "I am coming to you if you like it or not. Some of our friends know your address I'll just tell them I wanna see you." I replied with a smiley face and the words "They are loyal they won't tell. I got to go unpack I'll talk to you later."He just replies with "Ok if you say so. I'll talk to later you then. Bye Brit."
I put my phone in my pocket and go to the kitchen. In the kitchen I see my mom making coffee. I went right behind my mom and said "morning mom. How was your night?" Not thinking about how it would backfire and she would reverse the question and I would lie and say it was good. She turns around with a cup of coffee in her hands. She leaned up against the counter and said "It was good. How was yours?". I looked at her with a scared face and said "It was good.". She looked at me as if she was questioning me and said "I'm sorry we had to leave all your friends but we had to move so my family couldn't find us. You know what happened when I was a teenager. I don't want that to happen to you.". Then the story of how my mom was raped by her uncle and grandfather popped in my head and I said "It's not that mom. I can still talk to them and like you said they can come visit whenever. I just....". I then debated on telling my mom about the number. EJ is right she can't protect me but if she knew she would let him come and protect me. "I got these messages from this stranger last night....". My mom looks at me as if she just died. There is dead silence until she finally says "Give me your phone.". I ask why and she says "I need to see the messages and the number. I need to make sure that it is not him.". I take out my phone and hand it to her. She looks at the number and her face goes back to normal. Then she looks at the number and the message that says "I'm coming for you.". She then has a face that I have not seen since... oh no.
