Warning: noneWhen Steve had told you that Bucky had been found, you wasted no time in getting to the Avengers tower. Sprinting up the stairs, you were imagining seeing Bucky, throwing your arms around him. Before you could crash through the doors, Steve caught you.
"He isn't stable." Steve said, holding your wrist.
"What do you mean? Don't tell me-"
"Hydra got to him, he doesn't remember anything, (y/n)." He said, his eyes full of guilt.
"Steve, he has to remember me, I'm his wife!" You exclaimed, moving to the door.
"(Y/n)..." He started.
"Steve, let me see him." You said through gritted teeth.
"I'm coming with you." He calmly stated, letting go of your wrist. You let Steve go ahead of you, knowing that Hydra tore the man you loved apart. He punched in the code and you walked in. Immediately, Bucky's head whipped around, his eyes full of fear.
"Bucky? It's me, (y/n)." You said, not moving a muscle.
"And who are you? Steve, who is this?" He asked, his voice gruff. You felt tears prick your eyes like needles, and you looked at Steve.
"He really doesn't remember me?" You asked, your voice trembling. He shook his head slightly, his jaw clenched. "Your name is Bucky, and we got married in 1937. You wanted to go to war, and I never saw you again after you left." You said, trying to keep it short and to the point.
"How are you alive? You're lying. You expect me to believe that we got married in 1937 when it's what, 2016? Nice try." He spat, standing up.
"I was in the plane with Steve when we crashed. We froze for 70 years." You felt a lump form in your throat, and you wanted to sob for days on end. You suddenly remembered the ring you brought with you. "This is your wedding band, if you don't believe me." You said, slapping the ring on the metal table in front of his bed. His eyes softened, and you expected him to remember immediately, and to hug and kiss you like he always did, but instead he just glared at it.
"I can remember Steve, but I think I would remember the so called love of my life." He growled. Those words stabbed into you as you felt tears run down your face.
"(Y/n), let's go." Steve cooed. You felt the sobs trying to escape from your lips, but you held them in. You nodded and made your way to the door. You threw your head back, looking at Bucky one more time. His blue eyes that once held nothing but love and admiration for you, were nothing but cold daggers piercing into you. As soon as you got out of the room, you let yourself collapse into a million tears.
"How does he remember you, and not me?" You sputtered in between sobs.
"I don't know, (y/n)." He said, sliding down onto the floor with you. "I really don't."
"Where's Nat." You said, finally calming down.
"Downstairs, in the training room. Why?"
"I need to talk to her." You said, standing up and wiping your eyes. You didn't wait for approval, you just rushed to the nearest elevator. You got to the training level, and heard Nat's screams.
"Nat?" You yelled. The screams stopped, and she quickly came into view.
"(Y/n)? Why're you-" she started, but quickly realized why you were here. "Oh. How're you holding up?"
"Not well. He doesn't remember me, at all. He doesn't remember that we were married, and that we were trying for a baby, he only remembers pieces of Steve." You muttered, letting yourself ramble to Nat. She nodded and approached you.
