Tainted Love

Chapter 6

"We need to go. NOW!" she said.

Rey reluctantly helped Kylo Ren to his feet, and put his arm around her shoulders. Walking as fast as possible with Kylo being injured, they made their way out of the room, and down the hallway.

"Why are you doing this?" Kylo grunted.

"We don't have time for questions, and I don't want to explain myself to you," she replied.

Ren gritted his teeth as another sharp pain shot through his shoulder. It was still burning, and he could feel the blood spilling down his arm; leaving a trail behind them. He had to keep going.

"Where is the nearest escape pod?" asked Rey.

"We don't have escape pods we're on a planet not a ship," Ren said.

The planet began to shake again, and Ren realized that the Resistance must've taken out the deflector shield and thermal ossilator. That means.. the planet was going to collapse!

"We need to get to the tie fighter hangars. Can you fly?" Kylo asked?

"Thank you so much Sherlock! Yes I can fly!" Rey sassed back.

Rolling his eyes he pointed down a long corridor. "That way, then make a left at the end of it."

Rey nodded and half carried half dragged Kylo Ren down the corridor. What was she thinking bringing him along? She should've just left him there to rot. He got what he deserved. But there was something in the way that he looked into her eyes when she helped him up. She didn't know how to describe it, but there was something different inside him.

They reached the end of the corridor, and Rey veered them left. She stopped short when she saw the entrance to the hangar. Inside it was teeming with storm troopers. This was going to be interesting. How would they get in?

"This isn't going to work," Rey whispered to Ren.

"It will just walk in and head towards a Tie Fighter. No one will question my authority."

Rey sighed and started forward. "Wait, let me walk ahead of you by myself. I don't need them to be suspicious," Kylo Ren said.

"Are you sure you'll be able to stand on your own two feet?" Rey asked quizzically looking at him.

"Yes, I'll be fine," he snapped.

"Alright then." She released her arm from my waist, and let him walk ahead, following closely behind.

Storm troopers glanced at them and whispered to each other, but none of them stopped them.

Walking slightly faster Ren approached a Tie Fighter, and gestured for Rey to enter the pilot's side.

Rey climbed in grateful for something familiar to her.
Staring at the control board she heard Kylo Ren limp in.

"We need to get moving! They're going to try and stop us from getting out of the hangar. There will also be ships and guns outside of the hangar. That is if we make it out," Kylo said.

"We will make it out, trust me."

She hit buttons and pulled levers, and the Tie Fighter began to rise from its resting place. Maneuvering the Fighter towards the exit the ship began to shudder. They were being attacked from below.

"I need you to an the blaster! Can you handle that?" Rey yelled at Ren.

"Of course I can! What do you think I am, 5?!" He retorted.

"Just shut up and shoot the bloody thing!"

Ren grabbed the trigger and primed the blaster. Turning the nose towards a group of storm troopers that were shooting at them, he pulled the trigger and issued a rapid fire; blowing the troopers into oblivion.

Rey piloted the Tie Fighter out of the hangar, and into the open air.

The dark planet was in chaos. Smoke and flames rose all around, and the ground was beginning to split. X-Wings we're battling Tie Fighters, and cannons we're being blasted from the ground.

"No time for sightseeing we need to get out of this system, and to the rebel base. And don't you even think about signaling for help!" Ren warned.

"Why would I signal for help? I was beat to a pulp and left for dead by my own comrade!"

"Let's get out of here then!"

Dodging blasts and ships they made it out of the crippled planet's atmosphere. All of the sudden a Tie Fighter's blaster could be heard shooting towards them.

"Shoot him down!" Rey shouted.

Ren shot at the Tie Fighter and took him down but it waa too late. As Rey was putting the Fighter into hyledrive the enemy fighter hit them.

"No no no! Not yet! Not now! We're so close!" Cried Rey.

Jumping into Hyperspace, the two could tell that they weren't going to make it very far.

"The Illenium System is only 5 parsecs away. We may be able to make it, but it's going to cut it close," said Rey.

"Do what you have to do, " Ren grunted in pain. His arm was on fire, and it felt like someone had stuck a knife into his rib cage and was twisting it around.

Rey quickly jumped out of Hyperspace, and a giant green planet flashed into view. The fighter was beginning to lose power, and Rey was losing control of it.

"We're going to crash," she cried as the Tie Fighter rocketed into the atmosphere. It was beginning to burn up.

They weren't going to make it. Rey tried to pull up, but the ground was coming up fast. It was too late.

She turned in her seat and ejected Kylo from the ship before it hit the ground. He was already injured enough.

She closed her eyes as the ship collided with the ground beneath. Then all went black.
