Friday, November 20thI smoothed out my outfit and inspected myself critically in the mirror. Ashlyn and Aubrey decided on a blue tank top, light wash jeans, brown heeled ankle boots and a long and baggy crochet cardigan. It was very much something I would wear on a regular day, but with a special flare.
"You look so pretty!" Aubrey gushed from behind me. She wanted me to wear a dress but Aspyn vouched for me and explained how I should be comfortable and cute.
"Your boobs look really nice in that tank top," Aspyn randomly said. Aubrey and I laugh at her statement and we got ready to leave. We decided that Aspyn and Aubrey would drive separately together and Xander would drive me. Depending on how the night went, I would either go home with Xander or Aspyn and Aubrey. You could never be too prepared.
"Ooo! I think he's here!" Aubrey squealed where she was standing, peeking out of my white curtains, "He has such a nice car!"
Aspyn raced to the window to see and she yelled even louder than Aubrey, "Shit, he has the newest Audi R8. He's loaded! Why the hell is he going to our ghetto school?"
I could feel my heart beat faster than I think is healthy as I heard the doorbell ring.
"I'll get it!" My mom yelled.
I heard the door open, but I couldn't make out what they were saying exactly. I rushed downstairs just to make sure she wasn't saying anything embarrassing about me. My mom goes crazy when it comes to new people.
I come down to see Xander happily talking to my mom. She turns around and smiles, "Hey sweetheart! Xander, here was just telling me how nice you were to take a new boy like him to a party. How sweet of you, honey!" I could hardly believe my ears. Xander Blade? Swallowing his pride?
"Oh yeah, I'm just such an amazing person, mom. I just couldn't bear to see poor Xander suffer anymore as an outcast. You raised me right, mom!"
My mom playfully slapped my arm, "Allison, what did I tell you about being sarcastic and mean? Be nice to the boy, he's cute. Probably the cutest you've ever been wi-" I cut her off.
"Okay mom, that's enough conversing with Xander for now. The party starts at 8 and its 7 something so we should head out. Okay come on Xander," I rush out of the door.
"Tell Aspyn and Aubrey they can meet us at the party at any time. Love you Momma," I kiss her cheek and close the door.
"Your mom is a very nice lady," Xander awkwardly says. I laugh.
"That's just how she acts around company. In private, she abuses me. Slaps me, punches me, chokes me, even throws me across the room sometimes," I joke. Xander laughs and opens the door to his car for me.
"No, I'm totally joking. She's the best mom I could possibly ask for. From what I could tell, she really likes you," I admit.
I slip into his car and I was in awe. I felt like if I moved, I would break the whole car. It was so fancy and expensive looking.
"Wow, how in the world did you afford this car?" I ask. Xander stays silent for a moment before answering.
"My dad kind of owns a really big company," he finally answers.
"Oh, that's really cool," I don't press him further because it seems like an unstable topic, "my parents both work as realtors."
"What do you want to do when you graduate? Do you want to be like them and work in realty?"
"Well no, I kind of want to work with kids, you know? As a teacher or social worker or pediatrician, I don't really know, I just love kids. Even though they're annoying sometimes. How about you?"
