Thursday, November 12thMy parents hateful yelling made it almost impossible for me to finish my math homework. My mother's high-pitched screams had me wanting to pull all my hair out, paste it onto this paper, then turn it in. Get it together, I chanted to myself. My parents would be the death of me, but I couldn't help but love the shit out of them. Their constant bickering can sometimes be misleading, we were actually a pretty loving family.
And eternity later, I finally finished my homework. I slapped my textbook shut, scribbled my name onto the piece of college-ruled notebook paper and shoved it into my backpack. Eh, I'll find it when I need it.
Throwing my 500 pound backpack onto the tile floor, I ran across the floor and shot up the stairs. By the time I reached my room, I was exhausted. Plopping onto my lavender duvet, I whipped out my phone and texted my two best friends, or only friends, Andrea and Amber. People called us the straight A's, which was ironic because we all made straight A's. We were Pretty, Preppy and Proud, as Andrea would put it.
I entered our Group Chat that we labeled Charlie's Angles. We've had it as that name since 7th grade when none of us could spell 'Angels', correctly. But we haven't changed it in four years, so why change it now?
Me: Hey, do you want to come over and hang out for a bit? We just got three new tubs of ice cream, all chocolate!
Andrea responded within a few minutes. She was the more chill friend, the one you can invite over any time and she would be free. But don't be mislead by her relaxed demeanor, she was feisty and sassy when she wanted to be. Once, someone cut her off in the lunch line and took the last six chicken nuggets. She grabbed him by his hair and spun him around so hard, I'm surprised he still had hair. Then she slapped him right across his face. Andrea may have overreacted, but she didn't get into that much trouble because the teachers loved her and didn't believe she would do such a thing.
Andrea: Sure! I just finished homework, so I have to clean up everything. But I'll be there in ten minutes!
Me: Great, I'll pick out a few movies for us to watch.
Andrea: I'm going to bring this new popcorn that we just bought, it's literally sex in your mouth.
I laughed at her comparison and awaited a text back from Amber. I actually wouldn't be surprised if she was out partying. She always seemed to be. Many people at school perceive her to be a complete and total bitch. That may be the case on a few occasions, but she always makes me happy in the roughest of times and I loved her for that.
It seemed as though it was a new century before Amber texted back.
Amber: I can't, I'm really really sorry! I'm with my parents and they want to me to stay home tonight.
Her parents? Her parents are almost never home because of their jobs and never cared about her whereabouts, why would they care now? Something must be up. But I decided to let it slide and walked over to my closet to get more comfortable. I was still in my school clothes and I was not comfortable.
I stripped down butt-naked and searched through my closet. I pulled out my Pink sweatshirt and matching sweatpants, underwear and bra. My favorite store was Pink. My favorite thing was Pink. I absolutely loved Pink and sometimes wondered why this destructive world was gifted the presence of a store so perfect. (A/N- If anyone is wondering, Pink is a store by Victoria's Secret that sells bras, underwear, clothes etc.)
Walking into my bathroom, my two month old puppy, Mickey. I had to choose between getting him and going to Disney World for summer vacation. So I chose him and named him Mickey in honor of Disney. I guess I got the best of both worlds.
As I stared into the mirror, I examined my face. My wavy blonde hair was messily flowing down my back. My mascara had smudged and made me look like a raccoon who just watched The Notebook. I quickly washed my face with my facial cleanser and padded it down. Then I brushed my hair out and pulled it into a top knot.
For many people, l leaving school I their favorite part of their day. But this...this was mine. I felt free and comfortable, which is the best feeling in the world, in my opinion. Sliding across the bathroom floor with my socks, i rocketed into my bed and awaited Andrea's arrival. While waiting, I decided to text Dylan, my boyfriend of 12 months. He was the quarterback of the football team and his best friend, Linus, was the linebacker. We started dating at the beginning of Sophomore Year. Most wondered how a girl like me could get a guy like him, but Dylan always reassured me that I was perfect in his eyes. In my eyes, he was near perfect. But I didn't love him...yet.
Lately, we haven't been spending much time together. Between schoolwork, volleyball practice, and Student Council Meetings, we just don't have much time. But this Friday is our One Year Anniversary. I got him the new Xbox. I couldn't really think of anything else, but I knew that none of his friends could play against him since he had the Xbox 360 and all of his friends had the XboxOne. I hoped that he likes it.
Me: Hey baby. I was thinking that we could hang out this Friday since it's our One Year Anniversary.
Dylan: Is it this Friday? Man, I totally forgot. But I'll make it up to you, I promise. There's this awesome party Friday Night and I was invited. You can come with me if you want.
He really forgot? I couldn't believe it. But I guess I could go to the party this Friday, at least it's something.
The doorbell rang as soon as a turned off my phone, the doorbell rang. I ran downstairs.
"I'll get it!" I yelled into the house and hoped my parents would hear.
I manned open the front door and saw Andrea standing there with a bowl filled with popcorn. She was stuffing her mouth with the popcorn and was too busy to see me standing there. She finally looked up and saw me staring at her with pure amusement twinkling in my sea foam green eyes.
"Sorry, this popcorn is just soooo good," she said, half-chewed popcorn kernels practically falling out of her mouth and onto the porch.
We went to the kitchen and raided the freezer for the tubs of ice cream. Then we ran upstairs with our stash and jumped onto my bed. Andrea managed to toss almost the whole bowl of popcorn onto my bed.
"What the fûck?! You've literally been here for less than five minutes and you've already ruined my bed. Great going Andy!" I jokingly yelled.
Andrea couldn't respond, she was too busy laughing her butt off.
"Oh! I almost forgot to tell you. You will not believe what Dylan did....."
