"I knew I'd see you again" I put down the guitar and put my foot up on the chair to rest my head as I watched Tina sit down where Jeff was minutes ago. "Valentina".
"Oh, did you now?" She spun round on her chair smiling.
"I'm a big believer in fate" Maybe we were meant to see each other again, who knows?
Tina just blinked trying not to smile; did I just make her nervous?
"What's up with the new gear, you pimp?" She touched the gold coin necklace I got from that one pawn shop downtown. I scooted closer so she could get a closer look of the necklace while I got a closer look of her.
"Oh you know, just keeping it real, keeping it real"
"You got it at a pawn shop, didn't you?" Tina smiled. What the fuck? How did she know?
"Damn, you read me like a book, Tina" I laughed trying to give nothing away. "How's life treating you?" I really wanted to know, and to get off the topic of my shopping habits.
"Oh you know, I'm still Bridgette's bitch" I laughed at the way she said that, I still didn't get why she stayed at that place, she could do so much better, but the last time I told her that it didn't get the desired effect. "It's amazing in here, what you guys are doing..." Tina looked around at our little dungeon we call a studio. I should just move in here, I spend most nights here anyway trying to get music done. This album was a long way from being done... Now I'm thinking about the track, I had to know...
"Did you really like the lower chords?" I put my head on my knee looking at Tina. "Or were you just humouring me?"
Tina put her hand over my knee and it made it hard not to just...touch her. But I reminded myself that it wasn't just the two of us here. "Believe me when I say that it was billion, no, a trillion, no a ga-zillion times better than the higher one. I kid you not"
"Man...I'm seriously stressing out, aren't I?" I laughed and put my hand over hers, I still felt the way I did back at the bar, sure we were drunk but I know how I felt and even during this month apart the feeling hadn't gone away, not even a little bit. And that wasn't good.
"Just...a smidgen..." Tina laughed; she had such a beautiful laugh. I just wanted to make her laugh and smile. It could light up a fucking room.
"I just want this album to be amazing, you know?"
"The way you're going, it's going to be amazing. I can't wait to hear the finished version of that song. If the beat's this good then I can't wait to hear what the lyrics...see now you've got even me excited for this new album...but no pressure though! Take your time; I don't you working yourself into an early grave"
"It's funny when you talk yourself in circles, Tina" I loved it when she did that.
"It's my unique selling point" She rolled her eyes.
"It's like the whole dog and fish thing last month" I wanted her to hear the lyrics I was thinking about using for the song. Just to get her opinion. I've already accepted that her opinion on my songs mean everything to me though I don't know why so I might as well get her take on it before I start doubting myself again.
"How about a little spoiler?" I got up from the seat and picked up my guitar. "Follow me" I took a confused Tina's hand and let her to the huge supplies closet where I went sometimes to be alone.
"...what are we doing here?" She looked around while I took a seat. Tina took the one next to me.
"Okay...I trust your opinion...so tell me if this sucks or not and don't lie to me or so help me God Valentina is going on the album."
