Another week or so passed as I had to stay home as my parents were in town, well they were about to leave.
"Bye honey," My mom said as she gave me a hug.
"Bye mom, bye dad," I said giving them quick hugs.
"2,000 bucks in the safe, should last you for the six months, " My dad said.
"Six months?" I asked.
"We are going to South Africa, to study elephants," My mom said as they walked out the door. They were gone in a matter of minutes before I left to Johnnie's apartment. I didn't knock just opened the door as be was in the living room. The TV playing random ads as he laid on the couch.
"My parents are leaving for six months," I sighed as I sat on the couch and Johnnie rested his head on my lap.
"Six more months you'll stay with me," He said as I pulled out my phone.
"School starts is a few weeks," I sighed.
"Well I was supposed to graduate last year, but I dropped out," Johnnie said as I put my phone away.
"Did I tell you that I love your eyes," I said as he blushed.
"No, but now I know. Anyways, brown eyes are better," Johnnie said.
"How?" I asked
"They are beautiful, soothing, a calming brown that feels like home," He said staring into my eyes.
"Not when blue eyes are crisp blue, like the ocean and make you look more" I said. Johnnie moved so he was sitting entirely on my lap facing me as our faces were a few inches apart.
"I would trade eyes with you any day," He said.
"Blue fits you more," I said as I pulled him closer breaking the gap between our bodies.
"And brown makes me think of you as more welcoming," He said. There was tension, and a lot of it as he seemed to move closer.
"Can I just kiss you right now?" I asked as he looked at me a bit shocked.
"I-i-i'll kiss you when I'm ready," he stuttered out.
"Okay, take as much time as you need," I said.
"Why would you even want me, he has broke me," Johnnie said as I felt my heart shatter into pieces.
"I will always want you, and I will wait forever. Because being with you is all I ever wanted, and I'm going to protect you, forever and always I will protect you," I said as he teared up and rested his head on my shoulder.
"T-thank you, nobody has ever told me that, ever," He whispered as he wipes tears. I lightly pulled his head up to face me.
"I love you," I told him wiping his tears with my thumb.
"I'm not ready," he whispered.
"You don't have to be ready, have as much time as you need," I told him as he picked on threads of his black oversized sweater.
"I just want to sit here," He said resting his head on my chest.
"Okay," I said look down at him, the boy I fell in love with. I looked at him right now, with black eyeliner streaks down his cheeks, an oversized sweater covering his body, the black skinny jeans that perfectly fit him, and his hair in his eyes. He fell asleep in my arms as it was pretty late, so I pick him up and walked him to his bedroom as I laid him on the bed. I pulled up the chair not wanting to invade his bed as I got some blankets and a pillow. I laid the comforter over him and I got into the chair. I didn't sleep that night as I stayed up on my phone, or just mind pacing. My mind was rushing with what if questions as I got out of the damned chair and got the cigarettes Johnnie had and I grabbed one and slipped out of the apartment to the side of the building before lighting it. I took a long good drag in before blowing it out. The nicotine and many other chemicals calm everything happening in my brain. After I finished the cigarette I walked back into the building then to Johnnie room and let myself in. He was sitting up on the bed as I walked in.
"I thought you left," He said blankly.
"I when out to smoke," I said awkwardly pointing at the door.
"I can't sleep," he said.
"I can't either," I said getting back into the chair.
"I miss you..." he said.
"I'm right here," I said quietly.
"You don't get it, I miss your touch, it makes me feel like my life is worth something," He sighed.
"Hunter really did mess things up," I said as I moved into the bed with him.
"I thought he loved me, but this is what real love should feel like, right?" He said as he looked up at me, his once crisp blue eyes just faded into a dull blue.
"Are you happy with me here?" I asked as I played with his hair.
"I want you here," He said as he pulled closer to me taking a deep breath into my smoke scented shirt.
"I want to be there for you," I said as he nodded.
"I want to let you in, but everything is too much, I don't know," He sighed.
"It's okay not to know, I don't ever want to put pressure on you to be with me," I told him.
"I just don't want to disappoint you," He said.
"Don't worry about me, your life is about you, not me, and you will never disappoint me," I said as he nodded.
"Now I want you to close your eyes and get some rest, goodnight," I whispered as I missed the top of his head.
"Goodnight, Kyle.... Thank you," Johnnie said as he closed his eyes and I smiled before falling asleep with him
