A Different Future

Chapter 18

                 

It was the night of the ball and I was with Hermione getting ready.

"So we're bothering to curl our hair " she nodded

"Okay I'll do yours first then you do mine" she sat down i brushed her hair and did it into a updo before curling the hair in sections. I added some jewels. I then used my makeup and gave her a shimmering look.

"You look amazing" I showed her and she grinned

"Thank you okay now you" she brushed then made it straight then she gave me Smokey eyes and shiny lips.

"Great now time for dresses " I helped Hermione into hers and she helped me into mine. I put some perfume on.

"Why don't you go down I'll follow just need to finish off" she told me

"Are you sure" I wondered putting my jewellery  on

"Yeah" I smiled

"Okay see you down there ...with Viktor" I laughed and left I walked down lifting my dress up

-Cedric- (short but shocker)

I greeted  Fleur and Roger with Cho I was lucky she said yes I was going to ask Pippa but I didn't think she was going to go with me. I mean she is sensitive at the moment and I was scared so I asked Cho. I turned round but a scarlet dress stopped me and more importantly who was wearing it. Pippa looked beautiful. she had cut her hair short and it was curled back with her fringe showing a long red dress complemented her bump.

"She looks amazing" Cho stated

"More like beautiful" she smiled which made my heart beat faster she then came down the steps and was met by Potter she said something to him and he relaxed.

-Harry-

"Ah there you are Mr Potter. Where is Miss Blackthorn you need to be ready for the procession"

"The what" I asked

"Didn't I tell you the three champions or in this case four are the first to dance didn't I tell you this" I shook  my head

"Oh well now you know. When Miss Blackthorn arrives line up" she leaves

I waited for Pippa and looked at Cho with Cedric no wonder Pippa was so upset. I turned around waiting for her when she came she stood at the top smiling before she came down.

"You look pretty" I blurted out

"Thank you. Harry relax everything is going to go smoothly  you trust me don't you"

"Yes" he relaxed I looked back and saw 'Mione peeking out I gestured for her to come and she did. she smiled at us walking down and Viktor stood at the steps. He bowed then held out his arm which she took she gave us a little wave.

"I guess we should line up" Harry stated I nodded and took his arm it was the I noticed Cho

"Looks like our wannabe dates went for each other" he nodded "oh and don't worry I had Professor M put a light charm on me so it's easy to lift me up" he smiled gratefully. The door's opened and we walked in the hall was beautiful it was truly a winter wonderland everyone was clapping as we walked down. I felt Harry tense.

"Breathe little brother breathe" I whispered to him he relaxed against lightly as we took our places "Take my waist" he looked at me

"Now" he did so as the music began we began to dance and he lifted me up. People began to join us when the song finished .

There was a tap on Harry's shoulder and we looked to see George

"Can I borrow your date for a dance mate" Harry looked at me and nodded they swapped and different music began (a/n for the dance they are about to do look at the vampire diaries ball dance from Dangerous Liaisons) we took several steps moving from one side to another before we danced

"You are absolutely glowing tonight Miss Blackthorn" George said in posh voice

"Why thank you Mr Weasley you don't look so bad yourself" I reply in the same tone we laughed

"You want to know something" he whispered

"What?"

"Cedric hasn't taken his eyes of you since the first dance" he turned us around I saw he was right

"Humm weird given the fact  he has the date he always wanted." I looked back at him he twirled me out and someone else grabbed my hand and swung me into dancing. It was Cedric .

"Ah he dances and no one had to force" I commented

"Well it is tradition. you look beautiful by the way"  he complemented

"Thank you I've been told that" I replied

"It's true I barley recognised you when you stood at the top of the stairs" he ducked me down when there was a flash that went off we saw one of the their years taking a picture then leave

"Shouldn't you have kept your eyes on your date. Where is she by the way..." i looked around seeing she was dancing with Harry

"Ah found her. Must say that dress does suit her and she has a thing for champions" I say bitterly. the music finished

"If you'll excuse me I need a drink" I left the dance floor and went to get one before taking it outside I used my wand  which I had strapped to my ankle and made a shawl to keep me warm.

"Pippa tell me what's wrong I know there is and its not to do with the pregnancy" I turned to face him about to lie

"And don't even think about lying. Come on you can tell me I'm your best friend"

"No i can't jeeeez Cedric you can be so blind  its ridicules " I went to move to the other side of the court yard

"What am I so blind about. We've barely spoken to each other and anytime we do it ends with you leaving like I've done something to hurt you, so please cause I'm clearly not getting it" he retorted

"what would be the point you'll only leave and go back to Cho" i snarled

"Just tell me Pippa"

"I'm in love with you!" I shouted he stood there stunned I might as well continue

"I have been since third year well it was more like a crush. But now I'm sure" I cleared my throat

"It was one of the reasons why you were my first I wasn't lying about someone I trust but the someone I love part I already found him. the worst thing is you like someone else. I wanted to be your date to the ball and I prayed you would ask me hell even the others thought you would to them it made sense given were best friends and I'm carrying you children.

it practically sent me over when you came up beaming how Cho said yes. Then Harry asked cause he asked Cho who said no and I didn't want to go alone." he said nothing

"This is why I didn't want to tell you" I shook my head and left. I went to sit with Harry and Ron. I don't know but at some point I fell into darkness

--Harry---

I felt a head lean on my shoulder I saw that Pippa had fallen asleep. Hermione came over

"Oh look umm I'll get Cedric" she went over to Cedric who was dancing with Cho but seemed distant she talked to him and looked over at us before saying something to Cho.

"I'll take her to bed" he said and scooped her up and left with her.

I reached the Ravenclaw common room after answering a riddle and went to the head girls room. It was nice and I had never been in here before  there was a picture of me and Pippa on her bedside table it was of us before the Quidditch world cup. I laid her down and used her wand to swap her clothes  before lifting the covers up. I sat on her bed and looked at her.

She loved me and didn't tell me until she was hurt. I felt bad and wanted to make it up to her but how?
