There are several breeds of rabbits, in which each have descended from the first European domestic rabbit. However lets cover the basics.

Domestic: An animal that relies on Humans for their food, safety, and housing.                                                 Wild: An animal which is able to fend for itself provide it's own food and shelter.

There are over 50 breeds of Rabbits that have been domesticated. A few examples hat are common as pets are : Altex, Mini Rex, Rex, Californian, Cinnamon, Lop, New Zealand, and Flemish Giant.

Each breed of rabbit is determined by their fur, below I have provided  Photo's of the types of hair, and what they look like.

There are five reasons for rabbits, Fancy (for show, fair), Breeding (specific), Meat (Raised specifically for their meat, nothing else), Textiles ( bred, and butchered for their fur), and Research (used for research in diseases, and health problems)

When it comes to rabbits, you may want to consider size. Size by all means may be very important. Starting from smallest to largest breed, Netherland Dwarf max weight 2.3 pounds, Dwarf Holot, Holland Lop. Mini Rex, Dutch, Mini Lop. English Angora, Harlequin, New Zealand, English lop, and Flemish Giant being 10 pounds.

Each rabbit aside from breed have their own attitudes. That does not necessarily mean that they will be Aggressive.
