Chapter Seventeen

Montana

“GET UP MONTANA!” yelled Mum from downstairs.

“Ughhhh, mmmmf,” I groaned, stuffing my face deep in my pillow.

“DON’T MAKE ME COME UP AND GET YOU UP!” Mum yelled once again, making me groan louder.

          “MONTANA, I MEAN IT!”

I really don’t care.

          “MONTANA!”

“Fine, I’m getting up!” I called back, grumpily. “Hold your horses, geez…”

I forced myself out of bed, and flung open my wardrobe. Ugh…I honestly could NOT be bothered about what to wear today. So, I blindly picked out a random old grey sweater with Micky Mouse on it, a pair of black tights and random white shirt that plainly spelt out YAY. Don’t ask.

After stuffing my hair into a ponytail, and throwing on a bit of makeup (when I say a bit, I’m talking random thin line of eyeliner, a random jab of mascara and one brush of foundation), I headed downstairs, grabbing my bag.

I found Skyler sitting at the kitchen counter, glumly staring at her iPhone. She honestly looked horrible, and had bags under her eyes, and her skin was so pale. Mum had already left to wherever she was going.

“Geez Skye…what happened to you?” I questioned, opening the fridge.

She looked at me, grimly. “Remember that time when Oliver’s retarded bimbos, Kayti and Chealsea came over? And then Cody and I got into a fight? Yeah, well I said some horrible crap to him, about not being able to trust him and stuff. And he stormed off. And he hasn’t called since, Monty! What should I do?”

I raised an eyebrow, and shut the fridge. “Well…for starters, you shouldn’t wait by the phone for him to call you Skye.”

I pulled her iPhone out of her hands, and placed it down on the counter a bit further away. “Two, why don’t you trust him?”

Skye ran a hand through her hair. “I-I don’t know…I guess, well…remember that guy…Matty Donovan?”

I wrinkled my nose. “That dirtbag who cheated on you with the captain of the cheerleading club?”

Skyler nodded, vigorously. “Yeah, him. Well…ever since then…I’ve had trust issues. I mean, twice I blew things up because of the trust crap. Remember Trey and Eamon? Yeah, I completely blew things up with them cuz I couldn’t trust them.”

I scrunched up my face. “I thought you said Eamon and you broke up because he was moving to New Zealand?”

Skyler sighed, shaking her head. “That was a complete lie. I made it up to cover the truth…because I was too humiliated.”

I shrugged, nodding. “That’s probably why I saw him at the supermarket a few days after you and he broke up.”

Skyler smiled, sadly. “So what should I do Monty? I’m a wreck, I’m totally messed up. I’m so freaking scared to lose Cody! He’s the best thing that’s happened to me in these past few months-apart from Maya. If I lose him…I don’t know what I’d do.”

“So, go up to his front door, knock on it, and tell him the truth,” I instructed her, grabbing out a carton of strawberry milk. “Tell him bravely about your trust issues and how it started and stuff. Cody will understand, he’s that type of guy. And Skyler, just remember…not every guy’s like Matty. He was just a saddo freak who blew things with the most beautiful and perfect girl in the world. And you know Cody would never do that to you. Not in a million years.”
