Chapter Ten
Crap, I hit 1000 votes! Thank you guys! Okay read on! <3
“It’s YOUR turn to walk him to class,” I glared at Sam, adjusting my black short skirt which had magically slipped down.
Sam narrowed his eyes at me. ‘Princess, I walked the kid to class yesterday during period 4! And then for the period after that! It’s your goddamn turn, and stop making stupid excuses!”
My mouth dropped wide open. I couldn’t BELIEVE the NERVE this guy had! I had spent the past few days walking Marcus to class, while Sam relaxed with his friends! And sure, he did walk Marcus to class yesterday for two periods-but that was making up for the times I had to walk Marcus to class when it should’ve been Sam!
“Yes, but I was the one who walked Marcus to class when you were supposed to!’ I snapped. “While you were relaxing and doing nothing, I was the one doing all your dirty work!”
Sam rolled his eyes, and got off the locker he had been leaning on. “Your such a whiny baby, Crew. Grow up for once.”
And with that, he strode off, leaving me standing there, staring after him, flabbergasted. Me? Grow up? Yeah, that and I was an alien from Jupiter. Either that...or I was hearing things. Which was so incredibly untrue, cuz’ I could’ve sworn I heard a fly whisper something to me on the way to school. True fact.
“Um...Montana?”
I spun around, and saw Miranda glancing at me, her eyes mostly covered and hidden by her long reddish hair. She would actually be pretty, if she trimmed all the dead ends in her hair, push her hair back so it didn’t cover her eyes, and maybe add a little makeup to just give her the natural look. Oh, and if she wore clothes other than sweaters and jeans. Not that I had anything AGAINST sweaters and jeans...but the ones she wore were pretty daggy.
I shot her a friendly smile. “Hey there Miranda! How are you?”
Miranda shot me a ghost of a smile, hiding behind her curtain of hair. “I-I-I’m doing alright I guess.”
I chewed my lip, nodding, and slammed the my locker shut, making Miranda jump a little. I turned to face her again. “So uh...what uh....did you want to talk about?”
Miranda bowed her head, shyly. “Um...well...I was wondering...I mean, you don’t have to of course...but maybe...um...would you like to come to my birthday party? Here’s an invite.”
She handed me a soft pink envelope, shyly. I smiled. Aw, she was still giving out party invitations! That was sweet.
“Aw, thank you!” I told her. “Um, who else are you inviting?’
Miranda chewed her lip, thinking deeply. “Er...you, Jodie, and my book club friends, Katy, Mikaela and Edwina. Oh, and also my cousin, Georgina.”
I had a feeling that Miranda’s party wasn’t going to be the usual teenage party, with tons of alcohol, grinding, making out, hooking up, beer pong etc. I had a feeling that this definition of party was probably just watching some PG-rated movie with popcorn, and a polite lunchtime with the usual cake, sandwiches and biscuits.
The name Katy sounded familiar, but I couldn’t place a finger on it. Was she possibly in one of my classes, and I’d heard the teacher call her name out when marking the roll? But I knew Mikaela, she had really curly red-hair, and she played Annie in freshman year or something like that. All I knew was that she was into drama and acting.
As for Edwina...I’d never heard of her before.
Miranda sent me a tiny hopeful smile. “Well...I do hope you come. All the details are on the invite.”
