Peridot had made a very, very bad decision.

From the first days of noticing her mind reading powers, she could not focus, sleep, or really do anything. The voices bothered her very much.
Some gave her pleasure, happiness and warmth. But most were depressing, scary and absolutely dreadful.

To fix this, she devised a serum that would shut down the part of her brain that generated the thoughts of others. She would inject this through her arm with a syringe.

Over the past few months, it worked well. School had begun and she could focus on schoolwork again. She felt great.

Of course, every drug has good and bad affects. Sometimes Peridot would pass out, or have seizures.

Strangely, no one ever noticed this, not even her mother Yellow Diamond, who could actually enter one's mind.
That is, before she met Lapis Lazuli.

Oh, for the first time ever she was so in love with someone. The way she talked, she walked, she dressed, she smelled. The way after every class she'd sit up and crack her back. Well, that was a little creepy. But Peridot had stalked her on every social media and learned her schedule after school, and before school.

So when she boarded the bus that day after school and sat in the seventh seat from the front, she felt a tingle of excitement when she saw the blue-haired Hawaiian girl board the bus and sit next to her.

They actually talked, her voice cracking and stuttering while Lapis' calm like the ocean on a cool, breezy summer day. She did what she never thought she could before. She asked for her number.

And that all led up to this day. They'd been dating for only two months now.

Lapis slept over at Peridot's house, and laying on the night stand beside her bed was the empty syringe.

Lapis was mad. And afraid. And confused.

She waited for the next time Peridot might use it for something.
Peridot woke up early in the morning and searched for it. When she found it and grabbed it, her wrist was tightly grasped by her girlfriend's hand.

"What are you doing?" Lapis Lazuli's voice sounded a little wavy with hints of anger.

"I-I'm uh..." Peridot wasn't one to tell the truth,"I have to take medication for my... Skin..."

Lapis skimmed her up and down. "Skin?"

"Yeah I... Have a rare skin condition called uh... l-lizard uh..." She itched the back of her neck.

Lapis could see through her lies. "No, really." On the other side of the bed, the green water bottle on the night stand tipped over and fell. Lapis had hydrokinesis, which Peridot learned a few days after they'd met.

"Yeah! It's very serious! It uh... Causes my skin to get all... Bumpy and red..."

"Peridot. Tell me the truth." Her blue eyes looked deep into Peridot's bright green ones.

"No."
