First of all, I would like to point something out before I start writing the main topic of this chapter. In the chapter "Thailand" I didn't make it clear how our lives gradually got better. Of course some of our efforts paid off, but how can we gradually get better when we lose a lot of items, including money? I would like to take a moment to acknowledge those who helped us during our hard times and lend us their hands for us to stand up again and walk on our legs! Many supports came from the church we served (both in Korea and Thailand); few of our parent's friends, especially the church attenders, helped us a lot as well, and our family and relatives helped us, too. I would like to take thank them in this chapter before I move on (even though I know they are not reading...since it's English). I would also like to thank my school (International Community School) for their help, letting me study till I graduate even though at times we were in debt and in situations where we couldn't afford the tuition fee at the "due date". Thank you for providing me a scholarship (scholarship for Missionary Kids) and giving me a great education! Thank you all of you guys who helped my family when we needed help the most. Also thank you for still helping us, especially with financial issues, such as paying some of my college tuition fee and my sister's high school tuition fee!
Sincerely
Timothy
HEY GUYS! SO SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING FOR SO LONG!!!! IT'S BEEN A WHILE RIGHT??!??? I'VE BEEN SO BUSY WITH COLLEGE AND SCHOOL WORK. LET ME TRY TO UPDATE WITH THESE Q&A THAT I'VE RECEIVED SO FAR... (ALL CAPS ARE ADD-ONS OR REVISED, SINCE I WROTE THIS LONG TIME AGO AND NEVER GOT TO PUBLISH IT.)
1. Do you go to college? (Are you a college student?)
No. Not yet. Although I graduated in 2015 May 23rd, I am not a college student. I was going to go to a Korean College, but I got rejected from all colleges I applied to, so I had to take a gap year. Now in August, I will be going to college in the United States. In another words, after I got rejected, I went back to Thailand and applied to US colleges and got accepted :)- NOW, I DO!!! I GO TO HOPE COLLEGE! AND IT IS SO FUN!!!! MY MAJOR IS CHEMISTRY WITH PREMED AND EDUCATION!!! -
2. Why TinyTim?
It's a long story... How did I come up of the name TinyTim? I will definitely write the full explanation in another chapter (MAYBE) because there are several reasons, but one of the simplest and shortest answer is because of my teacher Mr. Tim. XD In our school, there was one teacher named Tim and he was tall.... Really tall, like 180-190 cm, but since I am short and TINY, I used the name TinyTim (only spelled this way and no other way...SO NO Tiny Tim or Tinytim... The reason is Tiny Tim is actually a horrible scary looking musician's name and WHEN I FIRST USED THE NAME, I DIDN'T KNOW SUCH A GUY EXIST....)3. Do you speak THAI? Are you fluent in Thai?
Yes I speak Thai, but I am not fluent. Although I lived in Thailand almost 15-16 years of my life, because I went to an international American curriculum school where all classes are taught in English, I did not really have a lesson in learning Thai. However because I lived in Thailand, I can speak and understand a little bit. In another words, I can understand and speak to live by in Thailand, but I won't be able to understand professional words (or speak in professional words) for example I won't be able to understand the news. I am not fluent in Thai as well because I cannot write or read Thai.4. What languages do you speak?
First, I speak Korean because that is my native tongue. Secondly, I speak English (obviously). Both English and Korean is the only language that I am fluent in. I can also speak Thai and lastly I learned Chinese (Mandarin) for 3 years during my high school years, but I probably forgot everything since I haven't practiced for a while. I can still recognize some of the letters and understand what one might be saying, but I am not sure about speaking Chinese except saying hello, goodbye, and my name is. XD I DO WANT TO LEARN CHINESE ONE DAY, MAYBE IN COLLEGE??!??5. What does Timothy mean? I like your name! Tell me more about it.
First of all, I didn't choose the name and I would like to tell you that the name is from the Bible. I would like to tell you a story to explain how my name became Timothy....
In the Bible, there is one apostle (follower of Jesus Christ) named Paul. He is like my family since he, too, is a missionary. However one day he meets a man named Timothy. Paul was like a teacher to Timothy and Timothy also loved God. To Paul, Timothy was like a son, so their relationship was very close and was like a father-son relationship. (I don't know if Paul adopts Timothy as a son, but their relationship was like father-son relationship).
So why do I tell you a story in the Bible? Well, my dad's name is also Paul and he is a missionary, too. So just like Paul's "son" was Timothy, my dad named me Timothy. That doesn't mean I am adopted though XD. Also, as a fun fact the name Timothy actually comes from the Greek name (I think it's Greek) Timotheus, which means Honor God :).
And my real name has a similar meaning to the name Timothy (Honor God), WHICH IS PRAISE THE LORD, so I feel like it's a perfect name for me :).PS: some of the questions are questions asked. Some are questions I thought since I feel like I wasn't clear in the other chapters. If you guys have more questions, feel free to ask me :)
