Back to the original story... It's been a while right?
So far I have been talking about my journey to Thailand. One could say it was an adventure with difficult times, but because of those difficult times, I think created me :)
Anyways, growing up I moved schools many times. The first school, or kindergarten, was at a church. We used to go to this Korean church and it served as a kindergarten on weekdays. My mom also taught ... My class. Yes, I was a teacher's son 😂😂 I remember I used to like this one girl and my teacher (probably my mom) would purposefully make me and her be partners... So we would sit next to each other. Anyways, after few months or so, I moved school to a Thai local school. It was a so-called Christian school, but because of the Thai customs, they would teach Buddhist stuffs. As a little boy, it confused me a lot, especially religiously.
.
Think of it as like a Muslim School (since many of you guys as Muslims 😁) teaching you Christian things and expecting you to do certain Christian things and doing them right.
.
So I moved school. This time to an international school. It is not that big, but in a young boy's perspective it was like a town - lots of place to run around. Thats the first place I think I learned my english. I started off at a kindergarten though, which made sense because the first few schools was when I was about 5 and this is like 6 years old. I only stayed in this international school till 1st grade though. I moved to another school but to be honest I really don't know why.Starting second grade I moved to another Christian international school, called International Community School (ICS). All I know is that missionaries from America raised funds and built the school, thus all the teachers must be Christians. However, although built by missionaries for local people, it wasn't cheap nor in poor condition (like you see in ads for African school - no offence there). In fact, it was bigger than a town, it was a country! Anyways there were two ICS's. The first one was the Prongjai Campus (now no longer exist) that started in the 1990s. In 2004, the new campus (Bangkok Campus) was built and was bigger and closer to the airport. It's like the Prongjai campus was one room of a mansion and the Bangkok Campus was the mansion, but we were rivals especially in sports: we had to win no matter what. However, on 2008 (when I was 5th grade) the Prongjai campus closed. Many says its because most left to come to Bangkok campus, but I am not entirely sure.
Anyways after moving into ICS, I never left. Only when I went to the States on 2008, did I leave the school, but after I came back I went to ICS till I graduated on May 23rd 2015. So one could say it is my second home.
.
.
The school was generous as well. They knew we were missionaries and gave us scholarships/discounts in tuition, sometimes up to 55%! They usually gave out scholarships to poor students or missionaries. Thankfully, I was able to get my education! Without those scholarships, I probably would not have had the chance to study in ICS.
.
.
ICS, although many students complain about how bad the school is, if you look at a different perspective it's actually a really good school. Many complain because they only look at the bad side, which I don't see a lot. For example, wearing uniforms... Students would complain how they hate uniforms.... But hey be a college student and you'd wish you could wear uniforms because you get lazy picking clothes. However our school still boast in academics sports and art! At the end, a second home is forever a second home!PS: Hi guys! Been a while right! Sorry... Been offline for a long time because of school and was not able to track on what I am suppose to do. Anyways hope you enjoyed this chapter although it is filled with many information. Yeah nobody likes school but always do your best :) Good luck to those Juniors and Seniors for choosing colleges and prep-ing. There are so much more I want to share but because of lack of time I shall stop here....and if I share more, it will be bombarded with useless information.... I guess the key in this chapter is that I moved a lot and I went to one school after 2nd grade. Anyways have a good day and to all those going back to school, Good Luck :)
