Alana her head throbbing walks home, she tries to find some pain killers but after searching for several minutes gives up and falls onto her bed crying. She must have cried herself to sleep as the slamming of the front door jolts her awake.

"I'm home biatches." Este yells, using her standard saying to announce her arrival home.

Alana goes into the bathroom and splashes water onto her face, she stares at her reflection, her eyes look red and puffy, sighing she dries her face and heads towards the kitchen.

"Oh hey Lonzo so how was school today? Fill that eager little brain with lots of useless information?" Este teases,

"Shut up Este."

"Oooooh someone is being a right old grumpy bum."

Alana ignores Este as she grabs herself a drink and heads back to her bedroom.

That evening Donna answers the phone and after a brief conversation hangs up.

"Everything alright Mom?" Este asks, "Who was that on the phone?"

"That was Alana's Principal, apparently she missed school today and it is not the first time Alana has missed school recently."

"You sure about that Mom? I mean I actually drove the little iguana today and watched her walk up the front steps of the school." Este tells her. "They must have made a mistake."

"ALANA MYCHAL HAIM COME OUT HERE NOW PLEASE." Donna yells,

"What's wrong Mom?" Alana asks as she enters the kitchen,

"I've just had a very interesting conversation with your Principal, who has kindly informed me that you have been absent from school a total of ten days the past two month." Donna tells her, "So what do you have to say for yourself young lady?"

"I didn't feel like going, so I didn't." Alana says,

"Lonz I so dropped you off at school today." Este replies looking confused, "So after you walked up the stairs where the hell did you disappear to?"

"None of your business." Alana tells her.

"Hell no dude, it is all of our business, no way am I having my baby sister flunk out of school, and no way are you going to give Mom and Dad any more shit to worry about."

"Este please watch your language." Donna sighs, "And Alana not attending school because you did not feel like it is not a reason to skip school."

Donna walks over to where Alana is sitting at the table, she sits down on the chair next to her daughter and takes her hand in her own hands.

"Honey is everything okay? You know you can talk to me about anything. Are you having problems at school and this is why you have not been attending?" Donna asks her, "Because you have always enjoyed school until now?"

Alana refuses to look at her Mom and instead focuses her eyes on a mark on the floor in front of her, she can feel the tears welling up behind her eyes and blinks quickly to stop them overflowing.

"Everything is fine, I'm just worried about Danielle that's all." Alana says as she wipes her nose,

"Oh honey, you still upset over Danielle having seizures? The doctors said she is going to be okay.'" Donna tells her as she brings Alana in for a hug. But honey your Principal has made it clear that from now on you are to attend every day of school otherwise you will not pass the year and you will need to have an attendance card signed at the start and end of the school day by your teachers."
