Chapter 8

Right now I'm pretty sure my stitches opened back up. We are fighting Clay Face. Aqualad and I are the only one still fighting. The rest of the team got knocked out. Clay Face throws me into a crate scratching my back. I shake it off, and run at Clay Face. I run at it only to get thrown at Aqualad. My vision is kind of blurry from getting hit, but from what I can make out, I'm about to die by mud. I see Batman crash through the window as soon as I blacked out.

I woke up to Kaldur sitting in a chair next to the bed I was in. I sit up only to be push back down.

"You shouldn't be moving." He says. I roll my eyes and get up anyways. "What happened after I went out?" I ask him.

"Not much. Batman had to intervened." He sighs.

"What's up? Don't you say you're fine because I know you were off your game tonight." I tell him.

"I have been thinking about Atlantis a lot. Batman is sending me back to help me decide where I want to stay." He says with his head in his hands.

"Are you coming back?" I ask. He can't go he is the leader. "I don't know." I get up and give him a hug. He wraps his arms around me. I pull away from the hug and looked at the clock. It was only noon.

"I have to go." he sighs. "Don't worry, I know you will make the right choice." I leave the room and head to find Red Tornado. He is keeping something I need. It's harder to find him since he's a robot.

I found him with Batman. I walk over to them.

"Hey Red, do you still have the thing I gave to you for safe keeping?" I ask him. "Yes, I will go get it." He flies up to his room, I guess that is what it is.

"Did Aqualad tell you what he is doing?" Batman asks. "Yes, he did."

"Aqualad might not come back. The team is going to need a leader." I sigh. "So you're saying if he doesn't come back, I might be leader. Only if it is necessary." Red comes back down with the gift.

"Thanks Red." I turn and walk off. I went to get my stuff while running into Kaldur. I give him another hug and whisper 'good luck' in his ear.

I walk into the kitchen finding M'gann in the kitchen.

"What's up?" I ask her. She opens a cook book. "I'm trying to find what to make. How's your back?" I groan.

"It hurts a lot." She hands me pain medicine. "I love you." I tell her. She laughs. I down the pills.

"You know M'gann, anytime when my parents aren't home, I cook for Wally and I. I think they might go on a cruise in November. We should cook dinner together."

"Yeah that sound like fun." Conner comes in and watches static. "I'm going to head home. See you guys later." I leave and head over to Jay's house. After getting sidetrack a couple times. I look at the time. It's only 5. I wasn't supposed to be here until 6:30. I walk up to the door and knock. Jay opens the door.

"Willow, you are not supposed to be here for another hour." He says. "Come on in." I walk in and lay on the couch.

"Did you have a mission today?" I nod. I sit up. "Batman had to intervene. I also had to get stitches." He winces.

"Well you take a nap. Also what's in the bag?" He asks staring at the bag. "You make it sound like I have drugs. I will give it to you later. Right now I'm going to sleep." He chuckles and walks away. I lay my head down and fall asleep.

I woke up to Wally's annoying voice.

"Is she dead or sleeping?" He asks someone. "The last time I check she was alive." Jay tells him. Then I hear Barry join in.

"I know how to get her to wake up." He zooms away then comes back with something. "Willow, guess what I have? I have pain killers." I shoot up and take them from him. They laugh and head to the dining room. I grab back pack and pull out Jay's gift.

"Hey Jay. here is you present." I give it to him. He opens it and smiles. I got him a picture frame that says 'SQUAD' with a picture of the league when he was in it. He starts tearing up.

"I like it, but what does squad mean?" He asks. We all laugh. "It's like a group of people you like and hang out with." We eat dinner and Barry zooms around cleaning up.

"You're a lucky lady, Iris. Our Wally certainly isn't that fast. Not when it comes to clearing the table." My mom tells Aunt Iris. Wally groans in the kitchen. I see that he has the ice cream. I get up and eat some too.

"Wally is fast enough when he wants to be. We're suddenly out of ice cream." Barry says. "Wally." Our mom scolds him. I'm laughing over here because I didn't get caught.

"Uh, Happy Birthday." He says with the spoon in his mouth. After we finish the ice cream and cake. Barry gets a call.

"Ok, we will be right there." He turns to Wally and I. "You two suit up. We have to go put out a fire." We run out of the room and change super fast. I hope on to Wally's back and we speed off to the fire. We make it to the Central City high school. The flames are huge. A fireman comes up to us.

"There are people still inside." Barry nods. "Menace, try and put out the fire. Kid and I will get the people out." We run inside. They start to get people out. I look up at the beams to notice they were going to fall soon if I don't put this fire out.

I get control of the fire. I try to calm it down, but there is too much. I push harder. The flames start to go down. I push even harder and I start to float. Soon enough the fire is out and all the people are out too. I get back on my feet, only to fall to mine knees.

"Menace get out of there. It's about to collapse." Barry says through the com. I try to push my self up but I'm too weak. The beam above me falls but Barry gets to me in time. He hands me over to Wally to lean on. Barry goes and talks to the fire chief.

"Why didn't you get out when we told you too?" Wally asks. I lean my head on his shoulder. "Because, I was too weak too. I have never put out a fire that big before. I have only made fire bigger."

I see that Aunt Iris showed up and Barry zoomed up to her. He answered some of her question, then they started to point to Wally and I.

"Kid Flash and Menace, were a big help today." Then he goes back to flirting with her.

"We are going to be here awhile, aren't we?" I ask Wally. "You have no idea."

We got home to be attacked with questions. Also Barry made a family dinner reservation at a fancy restaurant for after our next mission. He also already bought me a dress. He and Iris aren't going to be there, so it is going to be me, Wally and our parents. yay.

I was in the medical bay having my stitches check. Robin was checking them. I felt his hand run over the places I had stitches.

"Um, Willow, Didn't you say you put out the fire at the school?" I turn to him. "Yeah, Why?" He turn me back around and took a picture of my back. He showed me it. There was no stitches only scars of where they were.

"Well this is new." I turn to Robin. "Can you keep a secret?" He gave me a 'duh' look.

"I think I can fly." I said with excitement. "How do you know?" I jump off the table.

"When I was putting out the fire, I was floating. So if I get hot enough, I can fly." I told him. Wally came in.

"We got a mission. What are you two doing?" His eyes widen. "Were you guys making out?" I throw some fireballs at him.

"No, we didn't make out. He was checking my stitches." I left the room with them behind me.

I walk with M'gann to Batman. I see Kaldur there. I smile at him.

"The Watchtower detected an immense power surge in the Bialian desert."
