Sarah:
This is the second week we have been here and I haven't been able to sleep. I'm so use to being back home with mom and Molly. After dad died mom started drinking again, and would yell and blame us for dad's death. It was our birthday when dad died. He was on his way home and decided to call and tell us happy birthday and when he looked at his phone a car pulled out in front of him and the crash killed him and the other driver. A month later mom brought a guy home and Molly caught them kissing on the couch and that's when all the arguments between us started. Then he started hitting us and mom didn't do anything to stop it.
After a while we had enough and I told Molly to pack her things. The next morning we both had a back pack with food and some things we needed. Before mom and David woke up we left the house. I threw our stuff in the trunk and started driving toward the big lake a couple minutes out of town that we lived in. I drove to the lake because that's where dad took us a week before the accident. We found a small cabin and decided to stay there for now. "Sarah are you awake?" I heard Molly whisper while sitting up on the couch.

Molly:
A week before school ended is when dad died. Mom told us that we didn't have to attend school that week. Ever since we left home Sarah has been acting weird and she hasn't been sleeping. When I told her about the first night i saw mom and that guy she jumped out of bed and ran into the living room and started yelling at both of them. After that she always told me to wait for her wherever we went so we were inseparable. I liked it at first but then it just started to scare me. She doesn't think I know that she has been staying awake but I have been waking up a lot with nightmares so I see her staring at the lake.
"Sarah are you awake?" I ask her in the middle of the night.
Sarah didn't say anything she just stared at the water. Sometimes I'm scared that she won't talk to me at all because she doesn't always answer me. I crept up behind her as she looked out the window. "Sarah?" I whispered. She jumped and looked at me like I was a serial killer and I was holding a knife to her.
"Molly why are you still awake?" She asked and looked at me more calmly.
"I had another nightmare about mom." I whispered so softly that Sarah could barely hear me.
Sarah always knew about my nightmares but I never went into full detail.
"Molly go get something to drink then try to go back to bed okay?" She looked at me with her soft eyes.
She turned to the window as i pulled out a bottle of water from my backpack. I couldn't go back to bed even though I was exhausted.
"Sarah, why don't you ever sleep anymore?" I built my confidence to ask.
But of course she just stared ignoring every thing except that lake. I sighed and closed my eyes not wanting to make the only person that cares about me mad.

Sarah:
After I looked over at Molly and she was asleep I went to go and try to lay down which didn't help anything. The sun rose up about 10 minutes later and I got up and looked for some coffee bags that I brought but I was out but it was about time I went to the store and buy Molly and I more food. I tried not to wake Molly up but of course she was already awake searching for me.
"Molly want to go to the store with me, I have to get a few things." I asked as she rubbed her eyes.
"No I'm gonna stay here and clean up a little, and I might go swimming in the lake. But can you get me a chocolate brownie cliff bar?" Molly asked hopefully.
"I'm sorry but I have to get the stuff that we need because I'm trying to save money not spend it." I explained to Molly.
Sometimes I think Molly doesn't understand that we can't spend a lot of money because we're not old enough to have jobs. I got dressed and brushed my teeth and then got my car keys.
"Molly I'm leaving!" I yelled while backing out the door.
I locked the door and got in my car and looked for a grocery store. I only knew where a few were at but that was in the town where my drunken mother lived and my father died. I finally found a small store a couple minutes from the cabin. Only a couple of cars were there in the parking lot so I found a spot and parked. As I was walking toward the front door of the store I couldn't help but glance at this guy sitting on the tailgate of his truck with his feet dangling off. I didn't know why I couldn't look away but I just couldn't. He smiled knowing I was staring so I looked away real fast and walked to the store.

Molly:
Sarah left and now I'm cleaning the living room where we've been sleeping. It's so dirty and dusty. The couches only have a hole or two in them from mouses or rats but they were covered with tarps when we got here so they're cleaner then everything else. I cleaned the dusty rug, vacuumed the floor, dusted off the pictures, and dusted the glass China that was on a shelf in the living room. I decided to go swim in the lake outside.

Sarah:
I got a cart knowing I couldn't carry all the things we needed. The store was a lot bigger then it looked from the outside. I got bread, jelly, water, milk, cereal, coffee, and a couple of snacks and stuff for dinner. It took a while for me to carry the water to the cart, I mean it was extremely heavy. As I paid for everything I pushed the cart towards my car and I forced myself not to look for the big truck that had my attention when I first got here.
"Hey, I noticed you need some help so I decided maybe I could help" I hear a voice behind me say.
I turned around to find him standing there with his smile so perfect and his bright blue eyes that the sun reflected off of and dark hair combed back covered by a baseball cap. My cheeks filled with red as I stood there speechless not saying anything.
