"Ouch..ow...hey! Kakuzu stop pulling my freaking hair! Man!" Hidan yelled.

"If you're going to feel pain, start with your neck!" Kakuzu said.

"Punk! You couldn't believe the pain in my neck!"

"Without being attached to a body that can move, it means he won't be able to use any jutsu. Immortal or not, as long as he's like that he can't do anything." Shikamaru spoke too soon. In that moment Kakuzu had kicked Asuma and put Hidan's head back on his body, sewing it on with something that he had pulled out of his arm.

"What? How?" Tenten asked.

While the two partners were arguing Izumo and Kotetsu attacked.

"You're mine!" Kotetsu swung at Kakuzu who had detached both his forearms from the rest of his arms, grabbing the two leaf ninja by the throats.

"This isn't good." Sai stressed, looking worried.

"Asuma behind you!" Shikamaru shouted. Asuma fell to the ground, dodging Hidan's scythe. Missing Asuma it dug into Hidan instead.

"I won't fall for that again." Asuma said. His eye's then widened in pain.

"W-what happened!?" Kurenai was eager to know.

"You idiot! It's not the same!" Hidan yelled. Asuma fell to his knees, Shikamaru running toward his sensei.

"Finally I get to taste the pain...the pain that will kill you."

"Stop!" Shikamaru said.

"He's finished." Kakuzu told. With that said, Hidan forced his blade all the way threw himself, within his circle.

"No!" Shikamaru stood up. Team Asuma, Kurenai, and everyone else in the room shocked at the events.

Asuma fell forward. "Oh yeah, that hit the spot." Hidan said.

"ASUMAAAA!" Shikamaru himself fell to the ground. Both Akatsuki claimed they were almost done with their opponent when Shikamaru had stood on his feet. "Bastard...You bastard!" The young Nara ran at Hidan only to be forced back by Kakuzu, falling on top of Izumo.

"The hell?!" A swarm of birds flew in surrounding the enemy shinobi, backup finally arriving.

Shikamaru sat back down silently.

Shikamaru quickly ordered Choji to take Asuma to the hospital, having Ino follow. They both agreed but we're halted by Kakuzu, wanting to keep his bounty.

Before the fight could start again the Akatsuki members stopped, seemingly having a mental conversation between themselves. Deciding to leave Hidan said, "Au Revoir shit heads!"

"It's alright..." Asuma spoke, stopping Ino from using her medical ninjutsu. "This..this is it for me. Even I know that much...heh... you all..should know that as well."

"Shut up! Just be quiet!" Shikamaru warned.

Just hearing the slight arguing between his future self and Asuma, Shikamaru teared up knowing that Asuma was going to be the one to die. He tried so hard, but tears flowed down his cheeks.

'Shikamaru...' Temari thought, looking over at the boy who was obviously in pain. His teammates had also looked better.

"Ino..Choji...Shikamaru.. There's something I want to say to you all." Choji went to interrupt Asuma, but Shikamaru cut him off.

"These are Asuma sensei's last words..listen closely." He said. Asuma went on to let the three know how much they had grown and how he was proud of them.

For the most part everyone was silent, watching the scene before them aside from the little sniffs that could be heard from those crying.

"Oh yeah..and on that talk about "King"...so do you know who the "king" is? Asuma asked. "I'll tell you who it is..come closer.." Shikamaru leaned in as his sensei whispered the answer to him. Shikamaru's eyes widened at the truth. "Asuma you.."

"I'll leave it up to you, Shikamaru." Then the rest of team 10 watched as Asuma Sarutobi smoked his last cigarette.

"So then.. I was never there, when you were born?" Asuma asked in a low voice to Mirai.

"Actually, when I told you I was your daughter, that was the first time I ever talked to you.." Mirai said.

"I'm sorry."

"No. It wasn't your fault. Besides mom and Shikamaru sensei took good care of me. Shikamaru made a promise."

Asuma smiled at his daughter, noticing Kurenai was silently watching the exchange between the two. Shikamaru had gotten up after the video ended and walked into a hallway, seemingly to be by himself. Temari got up and followed him shortly after. She sat down by his side where she had found him, cut off from everyone else. The sand kunoichi watched him wordlessly.

"You going to put me down and tell me how much of an idiot I am for not being able to help my sensei?.." Shikamaru asked quietly.

"No." Temari said softly.

"Then why are you here?"

"Believe it or not I came to see if you were alright."

"I'm fine.." He was cut off by Temari.

"No you're not. You're lying to yourself. So, your sensei died, it happens. Aren't you forgetting? We just saw the future. Asuma is still alive and will be for quite a few more years. You never know. Maybe now since you know what happens you can prevent his death." Shikamaru looked to Temari looking a little bit better.

"Thanks Temari." He half smiled at her.

"Hey don't thank me, I just didn't want you to ruin my reputation. Since we do apparently get married I don't want everyone thinking I married some soft and fluffy guy, okay cry-baby?"

Shikamaru chuckled. "Troublesome woman." He said making Temari grin. The two stood up, but before they could head up to where the others were they were blinded by a bright light. Another portal appeared sucking the two in, causing them to fall into what looked like an endless pit of darkness.

Sakura woke up from her sleep. She opened her eyes, but immediately shut them from the bright light. She tried to open them again, this time slower.

"Finally awake?" A voice asked. 'Uh where am I?' Sakura wondered. She located the voice of someone talking. A dark figure stood at the end of her bed. When her eyes finally adjusted she sat up immediately, looking at what looked to be a much older version of her teammate.

"S-Sasuke-kun?"
