Chapter 11~ Caught
(Serena's POV)
I heard them coming once again. I don't understand why they haven't given up by now, I mean they haven't been able to find me before, so what makes them think they'll find me this time? Regardless, went up to the fireplace and opened it, I crawled in getting comfortable as it closed. I watched through the little hole in the wood as Adrian and the other vampires flew in and landed in front of the shattered window. I felt a sharp stab of disappointment when I realized Christian wasn't with them.
"Guys go search the surrounding area, see if you can track the girls scent. If you find her, shout or something so we know where to find you. Don't roam too far from the house and stay vigilant if it is the princess then she knows how to kill us and that makes her dangerous." I watched as they all dispersed, all of them except for Adrian, he stayed behind and started to roam around my house. I him pace around my living room until I started to drift off, then finally I fell asleep.
"I cant believe we found her. Christian is going to want to see her if he finds out she's at the castle." Who is whispering? And why did they sound so close to me? I thought I was in my hiding place. I slowly opened my eyes to be met sets of eyes already on me. I shot up on the couch and got as far away from them as possible, which wasn't very far.
I felt all the walls I'd put up come crashing down as the tears pricked my eyes. I was going to die, and there was no one here to help me. Christian was probably still at the castle being tortured and none of these guys were going to help me. They probably had orders to kill me, capture me, or worse turn me. I heard a small whimper escape my lips as I watched Adrian step closer to me.
"I'm not going to hurt you. We just need to cooperate with us. If you can do that then we can take you to see Christian." I didn't believe him and when he reached forward to touch my arm I grabbed the closest thing to me and threw it at him. When I looked to see if I'd hurt him, I realized I'd thrown a pillow at a vampire. He took a step nonetheless and I felt a few tears start to gently slide down my cheeks.
"Please, please just leave me alone. I don't have anything useful to you. Please I cant kill you guys, much less hurt you or cause any damage. Please, I don't want to die. And Christian can just find someone else to protect. I didn't ask him to help me he just did. I didn't ask for this. I'm already alone so cant you guys just leave me to die? It's not like I'm a threat to you." I sounded hysterical even to myself, but I couldn't help it. I'm weak and vulnerable right now and know it. God knows what their masters have in store for me. I wish Christian was here, he could probably keep me calm and sane at least.
"We have to take you back to the castle, Princess. I'm sorry." Adrian didn't make a move towards me again but he was watching me carefully.
"Please, don't take me to that place. I don't want to know what they have planned for me when I get there. Please, kill me instead. I'd rather be dead than to have to go to that castle and be turned into one of you." I was begging Adrian to grant me my wish, to kill me right here and right now, but instead he just looked at me. Then he turned his back to me as he started pacing around the room in front of me.
"I'm sorry Princess but I couldn't do that to Christian. Besides he would kill me for doing something like that to you. Don't you realize how important you are to him? You're the first person he's gotten close to since he was turned. If you won't cooperate with us, I'll be forced to knock you unconscious for the flight back to the castle." I looked from Adrian to Mia, then Lissa, and finally Aaron. Maybe if Adrian wouldn't kill me, one of them would.
"What you're all too scared to kill one human? It's not like I've ever done anything good for your kind. In fact all me and my familys ever done is kill off hundreds of your kind. You shouldn't have anything holding you back from killing me. Unless you're just scared." I smirked at them, hoping they couldn't see through my façade. I didnt want to die but same time I didnt want to become one of them either. I will regret not saying goodbye and thanks to Christian but I'd live with it sooner or later.
"That doesn't work on us, Princess. We have orders and you're not worth Dracula taking our heads just to kill you now." I let his words sink in before I felt myself fall farther into a pit of despair. I am going to die or be turned. It's one or the other. I just hope I can die. My shoulders fell forward in defeat and Adrian stepped closer to me once again, this time though he grabbed my arm gently but firmly as he pulled me up from the couch and led me to the window. I looked out at the night sky as Adrian changed before he took off with me in his grip.
I thought about the chances of me getting out of Adrian's grip, but decided against it. I had nothing to hurt him with so I was stuck until we got to the castle. I don't know what they have planned for me but I hope it has the possibility of me dying in it. The castle came into view a few short minutes later and I prepared myself for the worst. Christian, I hope you can at least try and save me or put me out of my misery if need be.........
