Is the star that shines the brightest
The first to fly the farthest
Or is it the first to fly
Straight down from the sky
The star in the night sky
Is not always so high
They're not so out of reach
For as much as we preach
Like us from down below
More stars appear here
Before our eyes
Like us they live
And shine so bright
And illuminate the night
Sometimes the stars that shine the brightest
Are the first to leave our sky
From their home, so high
The ones that fall and disappear
Can make us cry a single tear
Their beauty can touch us deeply
For some deeper than others could ever see
Once it's gone they are never seen again
Not able to shine through the night
The sight they left once, we can hold
Even if their story forever goes untold
Like us one star can change a life
Like us it can brighten up the darkness
And bring beautiful light in the night
Once their gone the scene they make is no more
Only shown through those who saw them before
Their story may continue to go untold
But will grow forever older
In the hearts of those young and old
They may just be a memory
But it can be everything
To those they touch personally
Hold them forever as precious
Like those close to you and me
