Chapter Twenty Six

Big guy hearing my thoughts pushed himself forward as if he was in fear to make the other two run faster. We all sprinted pushing ourselves to our limit racing through the forest, ducking from tree branches, jumping over objects in our way. We were running for our lives from the human cops and the pack after us. Bret never runs, not from anyone. I knew we could fight the pack and win if need be but Bret didn’t want to. He had a plan and he needed to see it through. No distractions.

After two hours of running like this I didn’t hear fast paws pounding on the ground anymore, I didn’t hear the cops searching the forest anymore but that didn’t mean we were free to go yet.

“We will stop in a day’s time. Do not slow down and fall behind, am I understood?” Bret demanded.

The three guys said yes. Hearing an annoying pitched voice says yes itched my nerve I wanted so badly to turn around and kill her.

“Kahterina.” Bret yelled in my mind. Pulling made away from all the ways I would kill her if I could.

“What?” I demanded.

“Do you understand?” he repeated angrily.

“Seriously? Were wasting our thoughts on this?”

He dangerously growled threatening me and yes . . . my protector was not having that. Tristan raced the one step to my side and snapped at Bret.

“He says growl at me again and you’ll lose your voice box.” I said trying to hide my laugh.

“I’d love to see him try.” He growled getting all defensive.

“I would tell him that but knowing him he would kill you,” I trailed off letting that soak in, “well on the other hand.” I half joked to get a arise out of Bret.

Because the loser he is he ignored me and just said, “Don’t start a fight now. I will deal with it when we stop.”

I smirked wanting to say so many comments to get under his skin but even I knew when it was the right time and right now was so not the right time.

“Leave it be for now.” I told Tristan. He stopped flashing his pearly whites at Bret and focused on the run. “You can back off now you know.” I said when he bumped me for the third time.

“I like rubbing up on you.”

“Oh duh. How could I forget?” I said in a duh tone, “So Mr. Pervert dear, um, back the hell off. How’s that?” I asked jokingly.

“I’ll always be your Mr. Pervert if you’ll always be my Mrs. Dirty.”
