Chapter Seventeen

Ryder's POV

I was pacing back and forth at my territory line waiting for Chad and this girl to come across so I could beat the crap out of Chad for leaving my mate with that sick bastard alone. My sister was standing a few feet back with her arms crossed over her chest still glaring at me for commanding her to shut up. I never used my alpha authority on her but if I heard one more time that Chad did what the right thing was I would have . . . I don't really know because I would never hurt my sister and no one else was around for me to punch.

From the distance I heard their paw prints racing to us. I was automatically in alert. I don't think anyone would run like that if something wasn't wrong. I instantly called my fighters over here and told everyone else to get inside their homes.

Stupid Katherina wouldn't listen and since her mate was m.i.a. at the moment he couldn't drag her away himself. So instead I told my fighters to surround her and protect her at all cost; this they did without being told twice.

I readied myself for what ever was about to come and when I saw the two wolves almost to the territory line I slightly relaxed hearing nothing else but them. Before they came to us they went behind a tree and quickly changed. My mouth dropped when I saw K. Without a second thought I ran to her and scooped her up in my arms. 

"I thought you were still there, how did you get away?" I asked then pulled away slightly when I noticed she wasn't hugging me back. "k" I stopped when I saw her eyes. This wasn't my mate. Not only were her eyes a different color; a color I've seen before, but there was no fire no anything when we touched.

Before I questioned anything Chad came to my side and put a hand on my shoulder gently pulling me away from the girl, "Ryder this is Shia".

Chad wasn't able to finish his sentence because this women that looked just like my mate spoke up, "Oh you're Ryder," she stuck out her hand, "It is so nice to meet you." she excitedly said with a smile.

My only response was a small smile back.

The girl giggled and slapped her hand on her forehead, "Duh, this is for you." she reach in her back pocket and handed me a piece of paper.

I took it from her and looked at the letter; it was from my mate. It was quiet as I read the letter and my mouth dropped once I read that Shia was K's daughter. I had to read it a few times to make sure I read it correctly. I could help the growl the rumbled in my chest. I looked up at this girl and anger took over my emotions once I realized whose eyes those were.

"Get out!" I snapped dangerously. She looked at me stunned for a moment but it wasn't her that spoke.

"K wants you to help her Ryder." Chad spoke up moving in front of the girl. "I promised her I would make that happen."

"I should kill you where you stand." I growled deeply causing Chad to flinch back slightly. "You brought her back and left my mate with that ass?" I sneered taking a step towards him. He stood his ground in front of the girl which only angered me more. Before I could take another step my sister came in front of me with hands on my shoulders.

"Ry, Calm down. You have to think about K."

"I am thinking about her!" I roared feeling my body shake in furry.

"She asked you to help her, so do as she says and help this girl." my sister stared up at me with pleading eyes.

Softening my face for her, "Do you know who that is?" I whispered.

"It doesn't matter Ry, if K asks you to help her there has to be a good reason."

"It's her daughter." I cringed at the word, "his daughter." I hissed.

"She is K's daughter?" Katherina asked in disbelief making sure she heard me correctly. I nodded. Quickly she composed herself, "You see, K asked you to help her daughter now be the man you are and help."

My mind went crazy debating what to do; yes K didn't know she had a daughter and I do not blame her but I cannot like this girl for who her father is and I will not trust her. My eyes narrowed down at the girl, "I will help you because my mate asked it of me."

The girl nodded still standing behind Chad. But not momenta later we heard commotion coming towards us. My back stiffened.

"Calm down brother it's only Max and a few others."

I nodded but kept my eyes locked on this girl. My heart ached as I saw so much of my mate in her. How could she have a daughter? And with Bret of all creatures. When the girls eyes went wide I growled lowly at how they reminded me of Bret. Then I saw tears slip from those eyes. Turning the direction she was staring at I saw Max with three other men and one of them -the alpha- was looking at this girl the same way. Once everything settled in the two ran to each other. His arms out and opened and her tiny body in-between them. Now wrapping his big arms around her holding her tight. He was her mate.

Max whispered something to the pair and they nodded. Hand in hand the two walked with Max over to me.

Taking his spot next to me he held out his hand and introduced me, "Ryder this is Mark and his mate Shia who is also K's daughter. And Mark has offered his pack to help us get K back." Mac sounded proud of himself.

"We don't need your help, take your mate and get off my land." I didn't need to look at anyone to know they were all shocked instead I turned and started to walk from them.

And that's when it happened. The ripping feeling at my heart. I clutched onto my chest and fell to my knees. Screaming as the ripping tore my heart apart, the pain grew and grew until it felt like my heart was in two and with that I felt empty, I felt like I just lost my other half.

Everyone was surrounding me; Katherina and Max by my sides.

"K," I whispered still holding onto my heart.

"What about K? Is she alright?" Max asked in a hurry causing Shia and Chad to move closer to me.

"It's gone." I said in horror, "She's gone."

Max growled in frustration and shock me by my shoulders, "What has happened?" he roared in my face.

I slowly looked up to meet his eyes, mine were glazed over with unshed tears, "Our bond . . . It's gone. She's no longer my mate . . . She's gone."

That's when Shia, Chad and Max all whispered: "the deal with the devil."
