If it doesn't make sense, read the blurb

The masked humanoid drones held me back as I struggled profusely for all that I have ever had. She to was crying but instead her tears were tears of joy, and I hated her for it.

I am here fighting like my life depends on it against these stupid government drones as my best friend is walking away from me, a man in arm and a ring on her finger.  The worst thing is she is headed for a town that she has never seen before, that none of us have seen before.

Tears burn away my trust, she promised. A promise made many years ago that was the foundation of our friendship but as soon as she said those words, as soon as she made that vow...it was like Rome was falling...on my brain.

A pounding headache ruptured my materialistic, utopian, childish thinking. I was mad, mad at Hayley, mad at the man beside her and mad at this world.

I had never known anything else seeing as I had been born within the walls if the city but a little voice in the back of my head told me that all this was not right.

For my adolescence I could ignore it, push it to the side of my head, I had friends and was blinded by youth. But I wasn't a child anymore.

This was something totally out of this world, making me wonder in what kind of out of order society do you never know who birthed you, never know if you had a sibling or two....

And then of coarse the worst part, you never know where you go after...it happens...after you say your vow.

I screamed, ripping open my throat so that the coppery flavour made me choke. I had no idea what had come over me but I felt invigorated by the moment and my melancholy turned into fury as I leapt into action.

If it was a match between team human and team 'I am a really really heavy piece of metal", dammmn I slayed it.

I used the droid holding me as leverage then kicked off it using my momentum to bash the other droid aside. Another came at me from the left, taser in hand and I grabbed it's right leg and tripped it up just before going into a perfectly timed side roll through the last drones legs. All this happened in seconds, and not a moment too soon.

Sirens blared and ahead of me Hayly was looking around in fear, not able to see me, her knight in a tuxedo pulled her into the nearest train car, the train was about to depart.

It was hopeless, aside from the fact my white dressed target was about to leave on a 600km/h train next thing I knew ten droids all piled onto me at once.

I shouldered off the first three taking minimal damage, however there is only so much you can do with an army of highly skilled metal men on your trail. I sprinted and my body burned but for once it felt like I had a purpose that was more than trivial maintenance.

With muscles that I never knew I had I tackled the drone in front of me rolled off it's chest, sprang up and continued sprinting for the train with my eyes streaming and my jaw set with a determined stamina.

The train was fast, too fast, and it was only gaining in speed. It was now rolling along the tracks at 30km/hr and I still had a lot of ground to make in order to reach the hand rail.

"Hayly!!!!", I screamed so loud that stars swam in my eyes, but I didn't care.

I saw movement ahead and amazingly I ran faster.

To my detriment it was not Hayly who poked her head out the window but instead a scowling man in a wedding tux protruded his torso out of the open window, he took a moment to look at what must be a frightening sight.

Next thing I knew he left then came back with an ornamental glass spirit bottle made of decorative glass and with a honey coloured liquid inside.
Before I could begin to question the object he grinned at me, flipped the bird then threw it out the window.

It made contact. My eyes burned, my face mutilated and my skin on fire.

Sound left me and it was as if I had gone into slow motion. My vision dimmed and all that was real to me was a mesmerising pulse beating through my whole body.

I fell back onto the train platform and my neck snapped back with the force of the fall.
The flesh on the back of my arms and thighs sprayed blood and the momentum of the fall forced me to skid down the platform right at the feet of the waiting drones.

It was like every surface of my skin had been grinded to mush by sand paper and when I finally came to a halt my agony was too much for me to comprehend.

I lay there limp, my vision red tinted, I stared at the uneven concrete and watched as my blood trickled downward and formed a pool. Worse than my destroyed physical state was the emptiness of knowing that my one friend was gone.

I drowned in absence and completely broke down all over again. Trembling on the ground I exhaled wails of deep soul shattering emotional pain, my pupils dilated and I swear I saw the universe rupture.

Subconsciously I felt the needle forcing black waves upon me, too much.

I struggled and almost got to my feet but like the animal I was the drone jabbed me with a taser and left me shivering in the foetal position, naked and exposed to reality and the conundrum of pain that came along with it.

In those moments of twilight between my wailing body and the bliss of unconsciousness I felt like a knew person. I wanted to get to Hayly take her back from that hidden world...

...then again why would it need to be hidden if it didn't have a darker side to it.
