Chapter 5

Jace's room was as neat as usual.Clary sat down on the chair next to his desk.Jace sat on the bed.

"So,what's wrong?"he asked,his eyed searching hers.

"I'm not sure if you heard the rumors going around that Sebastian,well,may be still alive?"Clary brushed a lose strand of her red hair behind her ear.Jace stared at her.He had no words.

Finally,he found his voice.

"No,who..."

"The council,"interrupted a familiar voice.

Isabelle Lightwood stood at Jace's door.

"Oh great,I didn't lock the door?"Jace grumbled.Izzy shook her head.

"Yeh,Luke and some other council members thought that if he were alive that he should be spared,you know,try to be persuaded to good?"Clary sighed.

"I disagree though,he's got demon blood in him,you can't turn him good,mom and Luke were fighting about it when I arrived home."

Jace looked from Izzy to Clary.

"I disagree as well,so do mom and dad and Alec."Izzy looked down,"Clary,what if your brother....."

That was it,Clary was sick of everyone referring Sebastian as her brother.He was,Clary could not help that,but she hated hearing it.

"Please Izzy,don't,in my eyes he isn't my bro....."Clary was interrupted by a loud boom.

"Thunder,"Jace sighed,"no biggy."

Clary crossed the room toward the window,soon followed by Izzy.She drew back the curtain.

Grey storm clouds trudged across the almost black sky.
Thunder roared and lightning flashed.

"No biggy,huh?"Clary said sarcastically and rolled her eyes.

"Looks like Sebastian might be actually alive,"Izzy declared and the three just stared out the window all night.
