Chapter 9

Clary stopped after a while,Jace catching up with her.She was out of breath and her cheeks were stained with old and fresh tears.

She had reached a bare grassy area,between some house a little way off from Simon's.

She fell to her knees and placed her face in her hands.

Jace dropped next to her and rubbed her back.

"It's not your fault,you know that,it's your brother's,"

Clary jumped and glanced up at him.

"You believe......."she started.

"Any better explanation?"he helped her to her feet.

"Clary,this might be shocking for you and your mom,you'll both be in denial,but the odds are leading to,ah,well,Sebastian is more than likely alive."

Jace sighed and looked at his shoes.Clary didn't believe him.

Or maybe she did,and really was just in denial.

"Look,Simon's just emotional right now,give him time,he'll come around,and,Clary?"

Her eyes met his.

"Simon and your friendship is the strongest I've ever seen and Simon loves you,oh Clary I hate to admit it,but he loves you,"

Jace smiled.

"Everything is going to be okay,Jocelyn,Simon,Luke,Izzy,Alec,Luke,Magnus,you and me,we're all going to be okay."

Clary bit her lip and whispered,

"okay..."

Clary was at the institute.

Yesterday's events had been really rough,but she had training today,so she just had to focus.She was in the training room,sitting on a pile of mats.

Jace had said to be here for 7:00 am.She exhaled in frustration.Jace wasn't usually  late.She was staring at her blue sneakers,until she heard a voice.

"I'm sorry Clary,"she looked up and was met with a exhausted looking Jace hovering above her.

"About what?"Clary said,trying to hide the concern in her voice.

"I have to go with Izzy to check something,you know,the investigation on Sebastian,they think they have some clues."

"Can I come?"Clary asked.

"No Clary,you don't have enough training,"Jace replied.

"Oh,come on!"Clary crossed her arms,"please!"

"No!"

"Pleeeeeeeeeeaze!"

Clary sounded like a little child  who was begging for ice-cream.

Jace glared at her and she sighed with defeat.

"So,as I was a saying,I've gotten someone to help you with training today,a shadowhunter who was trained from very early.

Clary rolled her eyes,she only wanted to be taught be either Jace,Izzy or Alec.

Jace stepped backwards to the door and turned the knob.

"Clary,meet Joshua."
