There was a large, painful bruise forming around the area of her right eye. (F/N) carefully wiped her eyes, wincing as she wiped the tears from her right eye. Arthur instantly starting worrying.
"Hey, did someone hit you?" He asked in a serious tone. "Who was it, was it someone from this school? Are people making fun of you because you can see magical creatures again? It isn't that git Alfred or that bloody frog is it?!" He questioned her quickly, his voice growing angrier towards the end at the mention of his two annoying friends from class. She let out a forced laugh and gave him a forced smile.
"Don't worry. It's nothing really. I just got attacked on the way home is all." She said, nervously twiddling her thumbs.
"Bu-"
"Don't worry, I said it was nothing!" (F/N) quickly interjected. Clearly Arthur was getting nowhere. She wasn't going to answer any of his questions or even talk about the cuts and bruises. He sighed quietly, deciding just to play along for now.
"You sure get attacked a lot on the way home." He said, that was about the forth time she'd used that excuse. (F/N) stiffened and nervously laughed.
"I-I just have to cross through a dangerous part of the city to get home." She said. Arthur gave her a doubtful look. Surely it wasn't just a dangerous route home, no one got attacked that often, and if they did, surely they'd find another route home. Or they'd have an escort.
"Why don't I walk you home then?" Arthur suggested. (F/N)'s expression turned into one of panic.
"You don't hav-"
"No, it's a gentlemen's duty to help out a lady in need!" Arthur huffed, his cheeks slightly red. "If your path home is dangerous, then I'll walk with you to make sure no one attacks you." Would she use another excuse now? Instead she stayed silent for a couple of seconds. She even looked like she was trying to come up with an excuse, but could think of none. She sighed.
"F-Fine.." She muttered as the school bell rang loudly.
Arthur grinned slightly, he'd successfully trapped her into a corner. She couldn't refuse, since any other excuse would sound silly. Maybe this way, he'd be one step closer to figuring out something about this strange girl.
"Good. I'll meet you near the school gates." He said, (F/N) nodded her head, gathered her belongings and left for class. Arthur made his way to his class as well.
But he couldn't stop thinking about her, and the bruise around her eye. He was worried, he couldn't take his mind of her. So much so it distracted him from class - which led to this certain situation with his two 'classmates.'
"Arthur, dude!" Alfred's loud voice came from the desk beside Arthur's.
...
"Hey dude..?"
...
"What's wrong with him?" Francis asked curiously.
"I don't know, he's blanking me or something, that's totally uncool!"
"He's probably daydreaming about that girl he's been hanging around lately." Francis smirked.
"No I'm not you bloody frog!" Arthur snapped, his cheeks heating up as he finally snapped out of his daze. Alfred's eyes widened in disbelief.
"What?! You got a girlfriend dude?! Since when!?" He said, completely getting the wrong idea.
"She's not my girlfriend you damn wanker!" Arthur scowled, slamming his hands down on the desk. "And her name is (F/N) if you must know!"
"Who's that?" Alfred asked, instantly making Arthur sigh in response.
"Typical Alfred.." He muttered under his breath, Alfred was never too smart. "She's the girl in a couple of our classes who normally sits alone." That was unless Arthur went to talk to her - which he often did. Alfred's blue eyes flickered in recognition.
"Ohhhhh..." He said, dragging the word out. "I know her!" He finally concluded. "Is that the girl who's parents died last year?" He asked casually as if it meant nothing. Arthur jumped out his chair.
"They what?!" He yelled. (F/N) had never told him. She'd never said a word, so how did Alfred know about it?!
"You must have dozed off on class or something.. She was called out of class remember? Then the next day we were told she wouldn't be in for about a week because her parents had passed away." Francis explained to his shocked friend. Alfred nodded in confirmation.
"She never told me that.." Arthur muttered. Did she trust him enough? Was he not important enough; or maybe he wasn't that good of a friend?
"D'aww! He's sad because his girlfriend doesn't trust him!" Alfred laughed, teasingly slinging an arm over Arthur's shoulder. Arthur instantly tried to shove him away but his grip with way too strong.
"No I'm not you git!" He knew that was a lie, he was a little disappointed, though was it in himself, or was it the fact that (F/N) hadn't told him? She would have a reason, she must have a reason..
"Dude, maybe she doesn't want to talk about her parents? No need to get so grumpy about it eyebrows!" Alfred added on a teasing remark. It was a possibility, yet somehow Arthur had a feeling that wasn't it. He had a feeling it was something more.
The rest of the day went on quickly, and Arthur quickly remembered he had to meet up with (F/N) near the gates.
Maybe this time he could learn something about this strange girl.
