Alice woke up once again, this time disorientated and panting. Her heart pounded erratically against her chest. Her side burnt as she tried to move, causing her to groan out in discomfort. She didn't want to close her eyes, for every single time she did, she had horrible flashes of her nightmare. Clutching her head, she let out a shaky breath only to jump when her room door was opened.
She raised her head and for the first time since her arrival, breathed out a sigh of relief at the sight of Sebastian. The butler eyed her carefully, shocked at the expression on her face. If anything the medication was doing the talking, but he didn't complain, he enjoyed having her so powerless and willing in her drug induced state.
"Sebastian, what time is it?" she mumbled softly.
'It is just shortly before one in the morning, my Lady.' He smirked as he moved to tend to her.
Alice looked up at him and sighed as he moved over to the side of the bed. Giving her medication to take, he checked her dressings to find they were all still clean. Moving to walk away Sebastian found himself glued to the spot when she reached out for him and grabbed his hand.
The heat from her hand alone, gave the butler the hint that her body was trying to fight off any form of infection. Turning slowly he looked down at her, raising his brow as she tugged him to her. 'It would mean a lot if you would stay with me for a little while, I'm not ready to sleep yet.' She mumbled softly.
Lips curling into his signature smirk, the butler obliged. 'You really make this too easy, seems your poor little body may handle alcohol, but it is no match for the morphine I have given you.' He thought as he watched her curl up against him.
'Have you any news of the Undertaker?' she asked softly, her head resting against his shoulder as she looked up at him.
'Oh little maid, my dear little maid, you really think I would tell you if he asked for you? The truth is however your lover is rather preoccupied at the moment.' He looked down at her and shook his head. 'I was sent to the shop today to alert him of your stay here and your current situation, he believed you were at the estate.'
He watched as she contemplated his words. 'Oh, do you think he will come and see me?' he could tell she was trying to sound hopeful.
"I do not think he will since he has been very busy with the Viscount. He mentioned nothing of what he is currently preoccupied with.' He watched her eyes carefully as they gave away her defeat before the rest of her face could betray her.
'I see.' Her voice carried a strange lilt as she breathed out the two simple words.
Sitting up, Sebastian lifted the small woman into his lap, smirking when she didn't protest. In her morphine induced haze, she stared up at him, stroking his hair from his face, running the strands through her fingers slowly.
'So this is how he feels when he is intimate with you my little maid, it is a pity that you still do not know that this is all just a game between the Undertaker and I. It is such a pity your innocent life is on the line. To become a lover to one and a enemy to the other, though I believe you would make a ravishing demon, he seems to think you would make a lovely new pet to add to the collection of reapers.' Sebastian watched her carefully as a soft palm pressed against his cheek bringing him back from his thoughts.
Unable to control his urge to kiss her, Sebastian slowly lowered his lips to hers, claiming them in a sinful kiss. His arms snaked around her as he deepened it, gently pulling her closer to him, one arm around her small waist, the other behind her neck, where his long slender fingers tangled in her silky hair. He smirked as he listened to her heart thunder against her chest before he pulled away. The said smirk only growing when he noticed the light flush on her cheeks as half lidded eyes stared up at him.
